Tomoe Hotaru, alias Sailor Saturn, is a founding member of the Suburban Senshi and a waifish bookworm who would much rather be meditating on the competing virtues of nihilism and existentialism than interacting with a world that she occasionally wants to send into the merciful arms of oblivion.

Though the recent destruction of the silence glaive at rei-bot's hands prevents Hotaru from accessing the sheer destructive forces she was once capable of, the girl is no slouch in battle, and is perhaps on par with Haruka as the strongest of the outer senshi. Hotaru is the daughter of Souichi Tomoe, and was also raised by her fellow outer senshi. She is most often seen in black and collects lamps.

Her physical age is hard to calculate because her body occassionally jumps back or forward in age. On October 6th, 2013, it jumped to 13 years of age.
