The Tokyo Lupa

While Tokyo isn't a place most Terran Lupa would ever dare to go, the few that have gone there have quite understandably found each other and tend to stick together. Most of them are heavily involved with the flower shop Floral Heaven, which they treat similarly to a pack business. However, it is not run like a pack in that there is no Leader or loyalty of the type usually standard in Terran packs.

The Lupa members of this group generally run together on full moon, whether in the country, Vermont, or Aescapulus, and in that respect it serves as a pack so that none of them has to run alone.

To the Terran Lupa community at large, however, this group is viewed with much suspicion and speculation, more notorious than famous. Eiry and Tally's original move to Tokyo was the cause of much talk among them, and most of the members, especially Eiry and Miara, have been widely talked about in some circles.

  • Please note that only 8 Lupa live in Tokyo; 7 of which live in The Hotel in different areas and unless they work at the shop, likely do not see each other every day.

History

The origins of this small collection of Lupa outcasts began when Eiry and Tally bought the lot which became their shop and residence and moved to Tokyo in early 2007. Acclimating to a large city was at first difficult, as they had only each other, but they soon became used to their new home. Miara first appeared in September of the same year, when her mother decided she was capable enough to join the small group they were bringing to deal with a Hunter problem. It was on this mission that Tally died, and Eiry and Miara became friends when Miara returned, as she often did over the next few years in her own time.

Knowing that the rogue Lupa (Eiry) in Tokyo traveled from there to Vermont in US often enough, Edar's pack sent him to Tokyo in November of 2007 for help in arranging a trip to the Office in Maine. Knowing the House as the safe address, he first appeared there, where he met Miara and later was taken to the shop. Eiry was going home for American Thanksgiving in just a few days, and arranged for him to accompany her and travel to the Office. It was also at this time that he met Nana, who worked at the counter in the shop.
Edar's trip was eye opening as he began to realize that what Eiry had done wasn't all that hard--just mentally challenging to everything most Terran Lupa are taught. Upon his return to Tokyo, he stayed for quite a while, wanting to see how things went. It was a difficult decision, but when in the end he decided to stay, the Leader kicked him out of his pack.

Edar's sister Kai, meanwhile, was still in high school, and stayed in contact with him through her astral abilities. In the time after Edar was no longer a pack member, the Leader often pressed Kai with questions about Edar's whereabouts and activities, convinced that he would attract the attention of Hunters and leave a trail back to the pack.
While Kai was able to avoid answering the Leader's questions for some time, he finally demanded answers and tried to force his way into her head for them. While this event was unwitnessed and a source of heated debate within the pack, Kai immediately made arrangements to change schools, packed her things, and got on a train to Tokyo. She also came first to the House, and was soon settled with Eiry and Edar in the apartment above the shop. She finished the remainder of her senior year at Juuban High School, and held both waitressing jobs and contributed to running the shop.
After marrying Fionn Moran in February 2012, she officially became a part of his pack in Donegal, Ireland.

It wasn't until Miara gave up her time key and moved to the local time that she met Kai and called a small informal meeting to discuss some things among the various Lupa in Tokyo, which set the course for how things have progressed in the group. Given the problems various people have had with packs and the different backgrounds, it was important to establish that the group in Tokyo would not be like that, and it would not function in the same way.

Nana began working for Eiry some time before Edar's arrival. The two dated quietly for quite some time, and he did eventually tell her about the Lupa. They were all surprised, however, to learn that she already knew about it, thanks to an old friend from when she lived in the US. Since the pair mated in late 2009, she has been included as any other Lupa would be. She rarely runs with them on full moons.

Vilya moved to Tokyo in 2010, and once she found the House was quickly invited into the group, having had discussions with both Miara and Eiry. While she has a radically different background than the others, they have become used to her, and have tried to help her discover more of her Lupa culture as best they can. Her paintings can be found for sale in the shop, and while not associated in working at the shop in any capacity, is involved in the other goings-on in the group.

Zalan, Miara and Taki's son, was born into the group in April of 2011, and the members often babysit him, or watch him at the shop, when Miara, Taki, or Kenshiro Tanaka are unable to watch him. He's familiar with all of them, and generally enjoys their attention.

Guyver knew both Eiry and Miara many years ago, but after his return to the Hotel it wasn't long before he and Eiry were dating. He slowly got to know the Lupa and had many discussions throughout the process. The shop has also seen a lot of him, and he's now a rather established affiliate of their group. The two were married in April of 2012 and have had a child, though certainly not in the usual fashion. He occasionally joins the group on full moon.

Miroslav came to Tokyo for the first Astral Seminar in May of 2012, where he met Vilya. They dated throughout the next year, and after they bonded during the 2013 seminar, they chose to stay. He now runs the Lupa music program associated with the Seminar.

Uffago and Nima both came for the 2013 seminar. Uffago decided a few months later that he would run the program when Miara left, and Nima never did go home afterwards and will grow up as part of the group.

Although Alta's origins are unusual, she was considered part of the group since her conception, and despite her genetic parentage. She was born on September 5, 2013, and will be raised as a member of the group.

Tien was born into the group, the son of Vilya and Miroslav.

This new version of Miara arrived in November 2018 straight from 2008, and eventually settled into a room in the Hotel dorm and it is her base when not traveling and adventuring. She's forged new relationships with the other members of the group, as she's not the same Miara they knew.

Rejoined the group when he reappeared in the summer of 2019.

Effects on Terran Lupa

The presence and knowledge of this group, as well as its' activities, are gaining exposure in the Terran Lupa community over time. A large part of this has, admittedly, been Miara's doing, whether directly or indirectly. Their ability to coordinate the Lupa relief effort after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami was a huge step forward for the Terran Lupa community in terms of unity and working together in a physical manner. Then came the first astral seminar, and Miara's efforts to strengthen the Speaker community by offers of training that one would normally find hard to get--especially for astralgia training.
