First Appearance

Hey...

Zept appeared in The Hotel in January 2012, looking for his friend G (Guyver), whom he often spars and trains with in a hard core manner. He seems to be from Gaia, the world where Guyver picked up the Zettai-Teki Hakai and has command over magic.

He sports an eyepatch, a beanie, dreadlocks and generally keeps his hands in his pockets as they seem to have a high mana/power content. His clothing is extremely casual and low key, very baggy and prone to slang phrases or slogans. This seems to match his easygoing and casual personality. He smokes, albeit rarely.

Events Before Suburban Senshi

Assassin

Death is the fate of all life... I only shorten the way...

Zept was a Mercenary for hire in Gaia. One thing lead to another and he was eventually hired in a plot for revenge to assassinate Souldier. He tracked his target to a bar, where Souldier was surrounded by friends, a fight broke out and he saw it as an opportunity to step in for the kill. An errant swing of a weapon made him lose track of his target, when another came from behind with a fatal attack, he found his very mark his savior. Despite Souldier's obliviousness to Zept's intentions, they defended themselves together and left the bar as things began to get out of hand.

Convinced someone like him couldn't be a real mark, Zept revealed his intentions to Guyver and his group, passing on information about a person his group was searching for, abandoned the contract and warned Souldier of reprisal from whom hired him. This of course brought out the wrath of his betrayed clients, and eventually led to his capture.

Psionic

So yeah, just tell me what you're thinking... I already know what you're thinking...

Having been captured for a breach of contract Zept lost his status and reputation as an Assassin for Hire and, now in the clutches of his contractors, was tortured and beaten. During these torture sessions he lost his right eye and his left arm was shattered. The Thieves Guild, whom hired him, rather than simply kill him, instead sold him away to an unknown group where he became an experiment for their 'Psionic Project' his gouged out right eye gone, a Psionic Crystal was installed there. They attempted to brainwash him, and Zept successfully tricked them into believing he was, this lead the group to repair his shattered arm now that they had a worthwhile test subject. From here he decided to stick around, a willing 'prisoner'. He also met the girl whom Guyver's group was searching for, thus began his plan for escape...

Spellthief

"Ah so that's how you do that, eh? Nice. I'll be taking that fer myself."

Still a 'brainwashed' subject Zept continued his act and began taking full advantage of his gained Psionic abilities, with this he used his knack of stealing and fake-it-till-you-make-it to steal spells from those around him, with minimal practice he had amassed several spells from other subjects, and even the many arrogant mages that were there.

During his time he planned around trying to free the girl, "Subject: Crimson Edge". Upon diving into her mind, he discovered the girl had an Artificial Personality implanted, which discovered his ruse. His plan of escape would have to begiin early.

Freedom

Upon being discovered by the Crimson Edge's implanted Persona, he knocked her unconscious and began his escape. Using his Psionic power, he triggered other Psionic subjects, and had them also fire his own spells to create further confusion. His escape was secured.

Zept would immediately try and find Guyver but failed to get any needed info. His underworld contacts lost, and he now being on the run guaranteed failure. Regardless, he kept his information in mind, He knew it would eventually be of some use. With this he used his gained freedom to lay low, until the time was right.

Current and Previous Events

Zettai-Teki Hakai

Simon Kerrick was a witness of Zept's first cloaked appearance in the Hotel, in which he attacked Guyver. Their quick scuffle ended in a draw, as Zept sliced off Souldier's arm, while having himself launched out of the building by a blow which shattered all of his ribs. Afterward he came back with the news Guyver he had come to collect the evil wrist blade for a ritual which was purported to release the souls trapped within it and afterward render it a non-concern. He revealed he was behind teaching the dark elf Oracle the restraint spells which appear when Souldier's dark side is active. Souldier, wanting to see this to the end, went with Zept and Eiry to witness the ritual. The ritual, however, had unforeseen effects, and Guyver was dominated by an evil spirit within the balde which tried to kill Eiry. Zept saved Eiry, but Guyver was killed--soldiers heard him claim that Eiry was a key, and grew suspicious. Zept took Dimension Diver and Eiry, fleeing the scene and returning to Earth. Zept, in his panicked state, left Eiry somewhere in Japan all alone, a foolish mistake that led to trouble with her sister and friends, resulting the scar on the left side of his face. Despite being able to have the scar removed, he kept it as a reminder of his mistake.

He later broke the news to the Hotel's inhabitants on January 19, 2011. He also delivered the news to Guyver's brother. It did not go well, as Zept was subsequently thrashed and thrown out the apartment. Upon Souldier's revival, he gave the Dimension Diver to Eiry, who returned it to Guyver; he then finally allowed himself to sleep, having not slept from the point of Souldier's death to his eventual revival, a total of three days.

Currently

He's been hanging around occasionally since the resolution of the Zettai-Teki Hakai, and has a suite on the 11th floor. Guyver and Matsumi have succeeded in hooking him up with her clone/sister Joanna. Because of Joanna, his normally stoic and quiet demeanor has given way to his repressed, genuine emotions. Her daughter Vicki is someone he's taken a liking to. He's also shown to get along with Miara Mitsuki's son Zalan.

Zept took part in his second Budokai. He was creeped out by Duelman, interested in Yaijinden, and he eventually faced off with Joanna and came away victorious. After disabling her via hypnotic suggestion he mentioned he is planning on asking for her hand in marriage after the Budokai is over. He fought with extra motivation after being 'hired' to take down Jinan, whom was apparently unstable, a risky psionic assualt allowed him sufficient control to win, however the final saw him bored, and he got second in the Budokai after losing to Reiko. Afterwards he disappeared for a while, but kept true to his word and Oracle's Sight, eventually asking Joanna to marry him. She happily accepted, and they're currently planning a wedding.

Personality

A pragmatist, Zept is usually cool and collected. But he's also lazy. He knows more than he lets on, and blatantly refuses to divulge info if pressed on the matter. While he doesn't really get emotional, exceptions to this are Guyver, Miara's son Zalan, and of course Joanna Smithson.

Being around Joanna has begun to affect him on a personal level, as his developing feelings for her is something completely new for him.

There are no lengths to which he'll go for those that are part of his inner circle. He follows the rules, but ignores them when they don't suit him.

Capabilities

Zept being an assassin, and knowing the ways of a thief he is very capable with his hands. basic and martial weapons.

Crystal Eye

A medium for Zept's Psionic Abilities, it is in his right eye socket, and linked to Zept's mind. It seems to be made of a durable and hard type of crystal, as a thrown dagger by Reiko bounced off without damaging the crystal.

Notable Abilities: Psionic - Type Alpha - Intellect Manipulation: Zept assumes control of another person whom is either willing to be controlled, or in a weakened state of mind where they can not resist. This person temporarily gains Zept's knowledge and know-how, Allowing Zept to remotely cast his spells using the person as a medium. Zept's mastery of his Crystal Eye allows him to use the person to affect his skills.

The strength of Zept's Psionic abilities or use of remote Magic can be amplified if he does this with another Psionic, Psychic-gifted person, or Magic user.

However, if the person is naturally wild, his casts may work improperly, carrying unintended effects.
