Origins
Mattie Penelope Peinfort was born to Arthur and Mariem Peinfort in the city of Windsor. While her family had once been somewhat prestigious, the Peinforte fortune was soon lost in bad deals and poor decisions, leaving the family (their name changed to Peinfort) in a far poorer standing then before. None the less, Mattie grew up rather happily, though always well aware of her place in the world. Still, she worked hard through school and managed to get into Thames University (she tried for Oxford but failed to get in), where she studied physics.
Her entire life, however, would take a far more fantastical turn. Walking home from a rather disappointing pub quiz during a break trip to Dartmoor (she got dragged into it due to being the only one who knew anything about science), Mattie stumbled onto an attempted kidnapping at a nearby lab by the forces of a man known only as The Reaver. Partially due to the alcohol in her system and to her own sense of right, she disrupted the attempt and then almost immediately fled after realizing what she had gotten herself into. Managing to get her hands on a car, Mattie fled into the wilderness in an attempt to get away from the angry Reaver.
