Jake Nelson is resolute but slightly regretful looking man with graying red hair. He wears business casual, and looks distinguished. There is a scar on his forehead and he walks with slight limp. Cynical but passionate, his intensity and 6'2 height attract the eye.

About

Jake is from New Hampshire, although this may not be his home. He may be from an alternate reality/dimension. It is also known that he has a family, and in hiding from some person or organization. He appears to work for a company that produces commercials, and used the idea of a girl and lioness, inspired by Himeko Ito and Celeste, for a commercial.

Jake's affiliations are unknown, but he has an inquiring mind. This leads to in depth conversations with others, although he is not always ready to voice his thoughts. He appreciates kindness in others. Before Jake took a leave of absence, his manner quickly deteriorated into hostility, but it was unclear why.

He has a wife, who is yet unknown, and at least three daughters, including Katrina and Sophia.

History in the House

When Jake first discovered The House, he was constantly learning and collecting information about those he met there, unsure of whether he was courting insanity with the strange things that happen there. Initially, he appeared as a man in a hat, trench coat, and sunglasses, his identity unknown. He did, however, reveal himself in due time and tok up residence in the blue guest room on the third floor.

When Jake re-entered the the Ten-Aino House during the summer of 2010, many found his mind too inquiring. Souichi Tomoe and others began to suspect that Jake was collecting large amounts of sensitive information about the residents and goings-on of the House. Jake's actions did nothing to alleviate these suspicions, so Germatiod began blasting him with an EMP in order to stop him. Continuing to obsess over the results of the Ten-Aino residents that would be hard to disprove, Jake found himself a nemesis in Jedite, who took great pleasure in hindering him.

Things finally came to a head when Jake's "old friend" Adam Kanal, as well as Sakura April, confronted him with weapons drawn in a manner that suggested finality. Jake's paranoia seemed to serve him well, and he seemed rather prepared for this eventuality, daring the two of them to kill him, and chiding the more straight-laced heroes of the house for their inaction when it seemed they would comply. Preferring to die than have his secrets revealed, he tried to take his own life with a massive dose of muscle relaxant to stop his breathing and heartbeat. He was rather disappointed when Matsumi Kaze pushed air into his lungs, and Sakura April, for perhaps the only time, gave a victim CPR. Terrified when this "last resort" failed him, Jake spit on Sakura April, believing it would goad her into killing him--instead, he was confronted by Jedite.

Naturally, Jedite was only too happy to inform Jake that he was a fool in over his head, while Jake retorted that he was above Jedite's judgement, and that Jedite would never rule. Seeing that Jake seemed to relish martyrdom, Jedite labeled him "a fearless madman on a quest," and told the others to let them go. Realizing that Jedite intended to forever obstruct his search rather than kill him, Jake became enraged.

However, after Jedite taunted him that he did not truly know what nightmares were, and in the hostile exchange of lore that followed, Nelson revealed that he knew of the existence of the Old Ones. The dread beings whose very existence can drive mortals insane. When speaking about these beings of untold horror, Jake revealed that he was a survivor of a band of investigators who fought them. This finally convinced the rest of the House that the reasons for Jake's relentless, obsessive behaviors was the proof of the things that Man was indeed Not Meant to Know.

At this point, Jake collapsed in tears, and began to point out the many unlikely truths within the House that had convinced him he was insane. After seeing Jake whimpering that he was "alone in the house, shrieking at the walls," it became apparent to the entities who were watching that Jake's threatening behavior appeared to be the results of his attempts to prove to himself that he was not insane.

Seeing this, the residents of the House took pity on the poor soul, and used their powers to restore his mind. Jake looked up at them, whispered "I believe," and smiled at his hosts.

He has not been seen collecting any evidence since.
