Pre-Heresy
Nechrim fought alongside Haak almost as soon as he could do so physically. Spending their youth in the local militia, followed by enlisting with the Imperium's legion of The Night Lords under Konrad Curze, Haak and Nechrim had each saved the other's life countless times in battle. The Horus Heresy changed everything for them.
Betrayal
While Haak had risen through the ranks to command and was spared the temptation, Nechrim was still in active service under the Imperium when Horus led many of the Imperium's legions against the Emperor and Terra itself under the influence of the Chaos Powers. Corrupted, Nechrim's combat skill only increased as the last of his humanity became buried under a new, traitorous persona.
Reunion
Nechrim survived the Traitor Legions' defeat on Terra, and retreated with the Night Lords back to the Eye of Terror. He never quite made it back to the warp, and soon found himself bearing down on the Sol system, hunting a relic that would free him from the will of Chaos and grant him the power he now hungered for.
The Hand of Night
By the time Nechrim met with Haak again they both commanded their own fleets and set about a long running battle, which saw several battleships destroyed, and the ultimate defeat of Nechrim on Earth, by Silver. The relic he came seeking, known as the ginzuishou, was restored to its proper owner and the innocent lives lost by the war were (mostly) restored as the world healed again.
Dawn of the Ancients
Nechrim reappeared some years after the climactic battle on Earth, seemingly a changed man. Haak had remained suspicious as the timing coincided with the first evidence of activity by beings known as Ancients came to light. Nechrim left to investigate a potential sighting but never returned.
