Sol is the name of the star around which the planets Venus, Mercury, Earth, Astarte, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Quinox, and Nemesis rotate, as well as the dwarf planets Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. It lends its name to the Sol senshi and the term solar system. The system itself is often referred to as Sol by those who hail from beyond its limits.

Sol is located at the center of the system and makes up about 99.8% of the system's mass. It is about 26,000 light years from the center of the Milky Way galaxy, and with a diameter of roughly 865,000 miles, it is 109 times the size of Earth. Sol is a white main sequence star, and a heavy-element rich Population I star.
