A death curse is an option for revenge that a mage may make upon their death. Basically, in the instant of one's death, one who is skilled enough at focusing power (usually a mage) may convert the energy produced by their own death into a curse. This curse is usually directed at the person who killed them, as that target is usually the easiest to establish a connection to. The death curse may also, more rarely, be used to provide a beneficial spell upon another (such as the Protection that Harry Potter received from his mother).
The Traitor used a death curse on Raihosha in 1939, who did not fully recover for a decade.
