Oruha Kaminogi (神乃木 織葉)was the chorus teacher at CLAMP Gakuen. She was also one of the members of the Clover Project, run by Kyle Rondart.
Early Life
Oruha was born to a privileged family. She had two major strengths: an almost genius grasp of biology, organic chemistry and the other life sciences; and a beautiful singing voice. She was enrolled in CLAMP Gakuen's rigorous science program when she reached junior high school, and also found time to become a member of the chorale.
When Oruha was in her second year of high school at CLAMP Gakuen, she was contacted by Kyle Rondart. He was attracted by her high grades and her natural aptitude in the sciences, and invited her to join the Clover Project in order to genetically engineer “biological weapons” against disease. Oruha had her reservations at first, but then decided to go on and join the project. She met Ran, as a young orphan who had been adopted by Kyle because of his strange telekinetic powers. Kyle explained to Oruha that his project would involve examining Ran's genetic powers and extracting them to help people.
Oruha had a best friend in the chorale, a girl named Kagura. While she was very talented in music (she also played cello) she also engaged in compensated dating (enjou kosai) with older men in order to "supplement" her income. One day, Kagura found out she was pregnant. She told Oruha about wanting to abandon the baby, and Oruha asked her if she was willing to surrender her to Dr. Kyle, since he would likely be able to find someone to give it to. Kagura agreed, and when her baby was born, she brought her to Kyle.
By now, Kyle's true colors emerged as he announced that Suu would be his next experimentation subject. Kyle used the very existence of the Clover Project to exert control over Oruha: if she were to go to the authorities, she would very likely be severely punished. By day, Oruha had her job with the Clover Project, but by night she was beginning her singing career. Kyle kept a close watch on her to make sure that none of his project was ever leaked to the outside world. Secretly, Oruha made plans to escape. One night, taking advantage of a power outage, she escaped and went into hiding, leaving Japan under an assumed name and living for a time in Europe. Kyle learned what had happened and sent a contingent of Fei-Wang Reed’s soldiers after her. Oruha eluded them for years, until finally she felt it safe to go back to Japan. Oruha had a dream before the returned in which she encountered Yuuko Ichihara, the Space-Time Witch. She expressed her desire to free Suu and Ran to Yuuko, but Yuuko would only allow her to free one of the two. Oruha chose Suu because of their connection through music. In exchange, Yuuko took Oruha’s genius scientific knowledge. Oruha then found a job as a music teacher at CLAMP Gakuen and found herself watching over the very girl she helped to free.
Once Kyle began to launch his plan to get the feather hidden in CLAMP Gakuen, Oruha was told to spy on Suu and report on her movements while Kyle plotted to bring her back into the fold. Eventually, she was given a control pack, which when integrated with Suu's wings, would make her completely obedient and incapable of conscious thought. In order to find Suu, she went to Card ParaDice and attacked the owner, Suu's former boss Rose, then lured Suu to the store using Rose's cell phone. When Suu arrived, Oruha gave Suu a choice: Join me or Rose dies.
