Monster Senshi Series
The Monster Senshi Series ( モンスター戦士シリーズ ) is a series of tokusatsu shows produced by Carisle Studios. The series started with the eponymous title in October 1999, and has continued to air and entertain since. With eighteen series under its belt, the series currently shows no signs of stopping anytime soon; however, the series has had some not-so-humble beginnings. The series is produced by Doc Vision (which is a pseudonym used by Carisle's staff).
The Fan Wars Creates the Series
Both Pokémon and Digimon mania was running rampant throughout the world, especially in Kanto, where fans of both series in their infancy, took to internet boards and argued about why their series was so much better. Executives at CartoonGameShow Network caught wind of these fan wars, and decided to create a show using the wars as a springboard.
The initial plan was to alternate between Monster Senshi and Dennou Senshi every two years to get one side energized and the other to be angry about the other team winning the fight. As tensions between the fan bases started to cool for the first time, fans started to know about the initial plan, including one episode where the Dennou Senshi faced off against the Monster Senshi, which caused so much fan outcry that the middle and ending of the episode was altered at the last minute to have the two team up to defeat the new Monster of the week. The new version of the crossover episode garnered a lot of attention from fans, which caused the series to be very popular, although traces of the original plan were seen across the first four series, notably in the naming scheme. However, it wasn't until Sailor Senshi (see table) that the staff were considering leaving the "___ Senshi" naming convention in favor of a secondary, albeit major, naming convention. This was put into place starting with the sixth series, Monster Senshi: Waterman.
