HISTORY

The Four Yuroti Sisters

Midori Yuroti is the eldest of the “Four Yuroti Sisters”, the quadruplets that would shake Nekonian society to its very core. The Yuroti were an offshoot of the Nira royal family line, and should the worst happen, they were in line for the throne. The Yuroti were a smaller family but held a great deal of sway due to their bravery and loyalty. Midori’s mother and father both were high ranking officials within the Nekon court. Unfortunately, storm clouds were a brewing, and a coup took place. The royal family was captured and later executed, showing the Nekonian people who the new overlords were.

Midori’s mom, knowing what was to happen, sent her four young kitten daughters away, giving them a new family name, scrubbing records of their existence, save for a few to prove their linage when the time was right. Midori’s parents were captured a few days later, and publicly executed under charges of treason. The purge was in full affect. Midori and her sisters were only 10 at the time.

They grew up well under their foster family, who protected them and hid their linage until they were ready. Midori and her sisters were given a formal education, martial training in various arts, and weapons training. On top of that, they were to become proficient pilots in a wide-ranging host of craft, something that would serve them well. The four would each excel in various things, and for Midori that would be a natural leadership ability, close range combat, tactical and strategic analysis, and fighter combat.

The Usurper Queen Niyora had no idea that Midori and her sisters had lived, and by the time they were 25, their praises were being sung by that Queen. Midori had been quietly gathering allies when she and her sisters among a larger contingent were sent to subdue a rebel group. This is when Midori sprung her trap. Upon her signal, as the fighting was fiercest, the Yuroti sisters and their forces turned against their allies and in conjunction with the rebels, was able to easily capture the army. Her former allies hissed at her and her sisters for their betrayal, but she revealed the truth of who they were.

Upon this revelation, the entire captured army wished to defect as well. Many had been loyal to the old royal family but had no banner to fight for since it was believed there were no branches left. Midori’s revelation had changed that, and not only that, many military bases had defected as well. Niyora was losing control.

Saving Nekonia and Honor

Though initially the Yuroti sisters were successful, their progress slowed down and after three years both sides were bogged down. The problem for Midori wasn’t the righteousness of her cause, but resources… Niyora had control of most of them. Through clever manipulation of the Nekonian media, the Yuroti family was framed for the murder of the royal family, and it was Niyora and her family that restored order. Eighteen years was a very long time and the truth can easily be distorted.

Midori knew they needed help, but even the colonies would not be able to help. She needed to look towards the stars… even if it meant possibly asking the Nekonians old enemy the Canisians for help. Midori went with a small squadron to find allies. Niyora’s forces though had seen their launch and gave chase. Midori sent a distress call as her squadron fell under attack. Just when hope seemed lost, the Kamenari Ryu along with 19 other Kanorian vessels dropped out of hyperspace. They happened to be heading towards the Nekon system after hearing reports about there being an intelligent species in the system.

Answering the distress call, Shogun Kevin Junia brought the vessel on board, and treated with his guest who informed of what had happened… complete with original, authenticated documents of the past 20 years. In the meantime, Niyora’s forces had demanded the “traitor” be handed over to them. Shogun Junia told them to piss off, Midori and her forces were now under the protection of the Coalition.

In response to this, the Coalition ships were attacked for violating Nekonian controlled space, a fact that Shogun Junia could not actually deny… except he would claim that his authority to be there came from the rightful ruler of the realm. The Coalition ships were quite superior to their Nekonian counterparts, and easily neutralized the vessels. He was trying to avoid actively destroying those vessels.

Niyora, who was made aware of the aliens invading her realm knew that Midori had now permanently gained the upper hand, but this did not stop her from attempting to spread false propaganda. With the Coalitions help, Midori was able to subvert that and inform people of the truth. Out of options, Niyora made one last gamble… challenge Midori in the Ring of Honor. Before Midori could answer, Kevin said he will fight in her stead. Midori had been injured and would need time to recover.

Niyora initially wanted to deny this since she did not want to be responsible for the death of a foreign leader. Kevin said that the Yuroti were under the protection of the Junia family and it was their duty to fight in their stead. Niyora agreed to this, but there were conditions attached:

(1) If Niyora wins, the Yuroti give up all claims to the throne, and the Coalition recognizes her authority and leaves.

(2) If Kevin loses, Midori will stand trial for treason and possibly executed, but the others will be tried in absentia and will be pardoned from death and be forced in exile off from Nekonia, free to settle elsewhere or join the Coalition.

(3) If Kevin is killed, the Coalition is to accept no recompose for his death or create a casus bellum from it.

Kevin agreed to the terms however, he had a few of his own:

(1) If Kevin wins, Niyora’s faction will recognize the Yuroti as the legitimate heirs to the throne and rulers of the Nekonians. The Coalition will recognize this as well and extend membership for the Nekonians into the Coalition.

(2) If Niyora loses and lives, she will stand trial for high crimes and treason against the people of Nekonia and the original ruling family. The Yuroti will determine the others fate.

(3) If Niyora is killed, there will be no heir to her faction.

Niyora had no choice but to accept. She was in the unfavorable position and she had managed to wriggle a better chance for her. She would leave no doubt to her superiority and kill this interloper. Midori was grateful for all Kevin had done but said it should be her fighting for her people and throne. While Kevin did not doubt her bravery, he did not believe she would survive the encounter given the condition of her wounds. She needed time in the healing pod, time that Niyora was not going to allow.

The two combatants faced off and immediately it got fierce. Niyora proved to be faster than Kevin’s incredible speed and was able to land blow after blow on him. His wounds would eventually take their toll on him, so he quickly came up with a plan to use her speed against her. He started luring her in with feints, until she realized he wasn’t attacking and stopped falling for it, which is what he wanted. He used such a feint, but she did not move… until it was too late, Kevin had used his speed to cover the distance quickly and caught Niyora with enough force to knock her aside. She was then stabbed a few times with Kevin’s sword. She fell and then Kevin went for the finishing blow, but stayed his blade and told her, that he granted her mercy, the battle was over.

Niyora was stunned at first but then rage flew over her. How did this huuu-maaaan defeat her, one of the finest in the realm? And then to show her mercy? She was a Queen, not some lowly peasant. She got up and lunged at Kevin with all her remaining strength, only to see him quickly side-step, spin around, and slice his sword through her neck. It didn’t come off yet, as Kevin explained she had but seconds to live and except mercy… and he explained her folly. She died however and her head rolled clean off. Kevin had won and the Yuroti were recognized as the true rulers of the realm. Midori recognized the sacrifice that Kevin was willing to make to save her, her family, and her people. She pledged the Yuroti would forever serve the Junia and that the Nekonians would help defend the Coalition. Kevin was grateful but made a slight alteration, to serve alongside not for. They were equals.

Staff Member and Bodyguard

Midori set her sister Chiyo up to be the acting ruler of the Nekonians while she went off to be the bodyguard and one of the aides to Shogun Kevin Junia. However, before she did this, she wanted to make sure the political environment on Nekonia was good. The first thing she did was not put Niyora’s head on a pike, but to have her buried with full honors. Say what you will about her rule and how she achieved it, she was still queen for 18 years.

The next thing she did was adopt Niyora’s daughter and former heir, Shanju, into the Yuroti family. Shanju had already been iffy about her mom’s own rise to power, and Midori’s two actions earned Shanju her allegiance, and effectively neutralized many of the complaints Niyora’s faction may have had. While some were punished, due to the heavy-handed measures that had taken place during the purges and such, many more were granted clemency in order to heal the divide. For a race used to purges and heavy-handed policies, these actions were quite a shock, but a welcomed one. Fear was replaced with hope.

With these and other measures taken care of, Midori, Natsu, and Ai left Chiyo and Shanju to assist the Coalition’s efforts. Midori proved herself alongside Kevin in the wars against the Glacien, Doominian, Lavinin, and Jordini forces. All four of these countries would eventually be intergraded into the Coalition proper, though all but the Jordini enjoyed a brief time outside the Coalition before petitioning to join.

When Shogun Junia disappeared, she helped maintain the illusion of him being there by installing the Shogun’s younger brother who looked somewhat like him as a surrogate for the time. With war against the Rolinians almost a guarantee with each passing day, the missing Shogun was needed more than ever. She eventually was reunited with him when he was fighting alongside the Sailor Senshi against the revived Beryl (seriously, maybe she has Nekonian blood because she seems to have nine lives) and longtime enemy Firestar (this one too). After a long arduous war against these two, the Kanorians had their Shogun back and it was time to take it to Rolinia. A mostly space campaign at this point, Midori used her abilities to assist Shogun Junia to victory.

It was not all smiles though as the Kamenari Ryu was neutralized, and Midori assisted Shogun in abandoning the ship. Once they got to the newly finished super battleship, they realized it was designed to replace the Shogun’s flagship anyhow. It was named Kamenari Ryu, the first in a new line of battleships designed to take on all comers and come out on top. The Rolinians countered with their Mobile Battle Station or MBS for short. While the Kamenari Ryu came out on top, it most definitely had help in achieving that victory.

The Rolinians were soon defeated and Kevin returned to his life as Jupiter Knight while still remaining Shogun. Midori was there to assist and oversaw the construction of the new shipyard around Jupiter called the Jupiter Drive Yards or JDY for short. This would assist the Kanorians and the Senshi in their battles against Sharline, the Opposito Senshi and other opponents.

The Pacifica Wars would see her grounded alongside Shogun Kevin and Sakura Yamamoto, a situation brought by the shield employed by Pacifica that neutralized the ability of the Kanorian forces from going planetside on Earth or for the people on Earth to get to space. However, Sakura proved herself while learning as much as she could from Midori and Kevin. Midori would mentor the young Japanese girl and it would pay dividends in the next major war.

Himiko's War

Unfortunately for the Kanorians, the Senshi, and their Knights trouble is never too far away. It started with a woman named Hitomi launching attacks on various points on Earth, acquiring Three Kingdoms Era China relics.
