Background

The "Eternal Bard," as s/he says, Vainamoinen is an androgynous being with strange powers. Some people call hir "Vain" for short. Hir full past is unknown at this time.

At some point in the past, Vainamoinen was in love with a woman named Aino, although she did not return it. After some kind of trouble involving her brother, she drowned herself rather than marry him (at this point of hir life, Vain was male). Ever since then, on at least one layer of existence Vainamoinen is in a continuous time loop of some sort of event (the nature of which is unknown). Aino herself haunts him as a spirit from whose mouth and eyes water constantly pours. She, however, only appears when Vain's will is at its weakest and most times s/he can hold her back.

Vainamoinen, for hir part, seems to be a mysterious and kind being, often making or changing things with hir powers or creating things through hir musical abilities on the kantele. S/he shares a deep affinity with nature itself, and thus most, if not all forms of natural things pay attention to hir. The Lupa characters have been known to do this, as well, most notably Miara.

It is also worth noting that in the whole of the Omniverse, there is only one Vainamoinen, making he/she unique in creation.

Powers

In theory, Vainamoinen has omniescential level powers due to hir status in the Omniverse. However, due to the "Curse of Aino" and the rules involved, hir powers have been drastically reduced. Currently, Vain displays environmental control, a unique connection to nature (as mentioned above) and the use of "old magic."

Vain is effectively immortal and invulnerable to all attacks, though weak against certain mental assaults.
