Reisen Udongein Inaba is not as much a Youkai as she is an actual alien. Her species, the Moon-Rabbits, have been native to Earth's moon for an incredibly long time and were subjugated by the Lunarians thousands of years ago when they migrated to the Moon from ancient Japan. Since arriving in Gensokyo many years ago, Reisen has been a member of the Eientei household for a very long time and is considered as much a part of Gensokyo's madcap antics as everyone else. She's a regular visitor at the Human Village as she delivers the medicines Eirin makes to them.

About

Reisen is far older than her adolescent appearance would indicate: she's actually almost 50 Terran years old and was a member of the Lunar Defense Corps. However, for reasons unknown Reisen deserted the Moon and fled to Earth. At one point she was contacted by other Moon-Rabbits who begged her to return to help defend the Moon during the original "War of 1969" - an armed conflict between the Humans of Earth and the Lunarians triggered by the Apollo missions. Despite their lack of magic, the NASA astronauts enjoyed a "slight advantage because of their technological weaponry" (translated from the Lunarian's perspective meant that the Lunar Defense Corps was being defeated badly because they'd grossly underestimated the effectiveness of technology). Reisen chose to ignore the plea and remained hidden away with everyone else at Eientei.

Reisen herself lives what could be considered a harsh life. In Eientei she does a lot of chores and runs a lot of errands. Kaguya mostly just lays about, Eirin's daily list of chores is often several pages thick, Eirin sometimes tests her medicines on her (which are often either extremely powerful or have unpleasant side effects), and Tewi frequently makes her a target of her not-so-funny pranks. More than once Reisen's caught the blame for Tewi's pranks, resulting in Eirin appeared out of nowhere to declare "punishment time~!"...resulting in painful injuries that have left Reisen bedridden for days.

Apparently, Lunarians possess both extremely high pain tolerances, immense endurance, and expect a great deal from their Moon-Rabbit subjects. Despite all of that, Reisen possesses a very stable, level-headed personality and frequently worries about Kaguya, Eirin, AND Tewi (even though Tewi has treated her like shit more than once). Overall, Reisen is an earnest and hard-working girl who takes the job of Eientei's upkeep seriously...which is something Tewi and the rest of the rabbit-youkai don't do. Their laziness is a source of constant irritation for her.

Reisen has stated on several occasions that she doesn't really like Humans all that much. She won't attack them, but she tends to avoid them because of how discriminatory they can sometimes be. She comes off more lonely than nasty.

Her magical attacks resemble swarms and barrages of glowing bullets that she fires from her finger. She's also capable of using various types of actual guns from pistols to automatic rifles and everything in between. One of her other powers (from which she earns her nickname) is her ability to cause insanity and confusion in foes who look into her eyes. Because her "bullets" look vaguely like suppositories, it's lead to the creation of the joke that she does indeed shoot suppositories...which has become one of her other less-appreciated nicknames. However, when pushed too far Reisen ISN'T above proving that her "suppositories" do NOT heal you.

Relations with the Langister Family

Reisen is honestly a little afraid of the Onryo, partly due to his abilities within Gensokyo, but also due to what he is. Space Marines and the Imperium represent everything the Lunarians and the Moon-Rabbits fear about Humans magnified by a factor of ten. Even though the Onryo has forsaken the Imperium and its extreme xenophobia (and she understands that he's guilty of being both a "heretek" and a "xenophile"), she's still unsettled by his combat skills (i.e. his ability to hack, shred, and obliterate both Humans and Youkai like the guy with the hockey mask in those creepy "Friday" movies). She takes some comfort in the fact that he's an avowed ally of Gensokyo and that he's Yukari's "Killer Angel".

Inu-Kitsune is very much a fellow Youkai in her eyes. Inu-Kit has always treated Reisen with respect and understanding, and Reisen is always willing to help her out if she's ever in a position to.

The Kits, all of them, are pure joy to Reisen, and their occasional visits to Eientei are something that never fail to make her smile. All of the Kits are friendly and playful with her. Alexianna's a bundle of energy and Catriona frequently plays little tricks and games with her, but both of them especially adore Kaguya (who loves them both just as much)...which invariably leads to Reisen getting a bit of a break since Kaguya will play with the girls for hours at a stretch and not bother her. Meanwhile, AnTil and Sylvester will actually help her with some of the easier chores (and NOT require a whole lot of supervision in the process) and are easily entertained with fun games like "Tag", "Hide and Seek", or just going for a walk with her in the woods to explore (all of which are things Reisen enjoys with them). Visits from the Kits are always times of reduced stress and more enjoyment for Reisen.

Even better is the fact that all of the Kits HATE Tewi and frequently team up to punish HER, which in Reisen's eyes is just karmic justice served with little fox tails.

Other

Reisen has sometimes lamented how she's "just a useless little bunny, only good for my sex appeal", usually when she's a little drunk and disappointed about something.

Reisen can't sing very well.

She's a fully-trained soldier from her days in the Lunar Defense Corps, but she hates talking about her time there, suggesting that she either got into some kind of serious trouble or was treated very badly. Given the way her previous owners, the Watatsuki Sisters (who were both students of Eirin), treated her while they visited Eientei once would suggest the latter.
