History

Early Life

Born to Hiroshi and Miyami Maki, two Japanese immigrants to the United States, Tetsuo Maki lived a fairly normal and uninteresting life. Not especially active in sports or focused on studies, he didn't really make many friends at school. Things would only get worse when his parents died in an accident, leaving him to grow up alone. The only one who seemed to pay any sort of attention to him was a neighbor of his named Laura Sawyer, who took it upon herself to protect him. Through her help, Maki began to grow out of his shell. However, this peaceful life of his would not last long, as one day on his way to college, the young man was kidnapped by members of the organization known as GOLEM (Global Organization for Larceny, Evil and Murder), a group which had been born out of the remains of the sinister group known as Geldam. Deciding Maki would make for an excellent test subject for Project STRIKER, the group remodeled him into a cyborg to work under their control.

Kamen Rider Striker

First Arc

Awakening in a tube during an unscheduled power outage, Tetsuo managed to break out of one of GOLEM’s bases, taking with him the Strike-Cycle, a new vehicle originally built for him as a soldier of the organization. Making his way back to his hometown, he managed to make contact with Laura, shocked to discover that nearly a year had passed for him. Unable to account for himself and what had happened, Laura’s anger at him was soon interrupted by attack by one of GOLEM’s mutants, the fearsome Spider-Warrior. During the attack, Tetsuo transformed for the first time into Kamen Rider Striker and managed to escape with Laura. While the monster would later attack them a second time, Striker this time managed to kill the beast, though not wanting to put his friend through anymore danger, left her behind to go on the run from the organization.

During one stop, Tetsuo became the focus of an investigation in which he was blamed for several murders. While the local police officer, Detective Ferris, at first suspected him, the two soon uncovered GOLEM’s involvement, though once more Tetsuo left the scene in an attempt to get away from the organization.

Tetsuo would eventually find his fate linked with another man, a former motorcycle racer named Kojiro Taiga. Taiga would find himself the witness to the murder of another man by a GOLEM mutant and in the process would be targeted for death himself. Coming to his rescue, Tetsuo finally made the decision to take the battle to GOLEM rather than simply to continue his running, with Taiga acting as a mentor of sorts. Tetsuo would continue to plague GOLEM’s early operations as Striker, forcing the organization to look to other means to succeed.

Captain Death Arc

Deciding to bring in an expert, The Supreme GOLEM called in Captain Death, one of the organization’s high officers, as well as the original head of the STRIKER project. Death would continue to proceed in trying to fulfill GOLEM’s dream of world conquest, while at the same time trying to take down the Kamen Rider. At one point, Death nearly succeed in making Tetsuo belive Taiga was in fact an undercover GOLEM operative, though a small mistake forced him in showing his hand too early. Eventually, Laura finally managed to track down Tetsuo, after following him across the country. Death saw an opportunity in this, substituting another for herself in an attempt to get close to Maki in order to kill him and then trying to trap him by luring him with Laura as a hostage. Failing at that, Captain Death was forced to transform into his true monstrous form, the Death-Chameleon, fighting the cyborg until Striker was able to defeat him with a well placed Pistol Kick. Even then, Captain Death mocked Striker, telling him that he was not the only leader that GOLEM had and that it was only a matter of time before he would fall before them, like all others had.

Commander Metal Arc

The next called in was Commander Metal of GOLEM’s German Branch. While he was originally tasked with simply continuing in the organization’s projects, he became more and more obsessed with taking down Striker instead. This led Metal to several reckless moves, which used up a greater amount of resources the organization could not easily repair and nearly revealed the precedence of GOLEM to the world. Eventually, he was called up by the Supreme GOLEM and warned that if he continued such behavior, he would be terminated. Rather than reining him in as hoped, Metal grew desperate to finally destroy the man he blamed for his current situation and drawing Tetsuo into a battle at an abandoned army base, Metal transformed into Steel-Bison in an attempt to finally kill him. He was instead easily defeated, though it came as more a relief to GOLEM then anger.

Lieutenant Poison Arc

Brought in to take over from Metal, LT Poison of the South American branch was far more crafty then her predecessors. Using several false identities and disguises, more than once, she got close to Tetsuo and his allies and though they always defeated her plans, they never were able to get a definite victory. Laura, frustrated by all this, decided to use herself as a lure without the knowledge of Tetsuo and Kojiro. Though a rather reckless move on her part, none the less, it would eventually prove to be the downfall of Poison and though she attempted to destroy Striker as PoisonTrap, she was destroyed completely.

General Claw Arc

The next officer called in, General Claw of Africa, took no chances, concocting a multi-layered plan. Purposefully releasing one of their mutants early in the process, Tetsuo attempted to help the confused young man, though ultimately forced to put him out of his misery when he lost control, leaving Maki shaken. Tetsuo, with the assistance of Detective Ferris, who had been tracking the mutant, discovered the presence of Dr. Morton Fawkner, an old friend of Tetsuo’s family and as he discovered, the man who helped to transform him into Striker in the first place. Convinced by him that he could help him discover GOLEM’s secret HQ and take down the organization for good, Tetsuo was instead led into a trap, where in a fight against GOLEM’s newest mutant, was shockingly killed, his corpse dumped into a junkyard. However, Fawkner had a change of heart and with the help of Tetsuo’s friends, was brought to another location, where Fawkner not only revived the young man but upgraded him as well. Destroying the mutant with the Striker Burning Kick, he was none the less unable to prevent Fawkner’s death, something which made him become even more eager to destroy the evil GOLEM. In order to assist the Kamen Rider in his work and given the idea by a group of children, Detective Ferris helped Kojiro create the “Striker Club,” a group of kids (mostly orphans) who would help report GOLEM activity throughout the country. Striker would continue to plague Claw, finally destroying the general in his identity as SkullClaw when he attempted to kill an international delegation with a sabotaged boat.

Private Shadow Arc

Growing concerned over Striker’s success in disrupting their plans, the Supreme GOLEM decided upon a daring plot. Private Shadow was brought in to head their new operations, continuing much from where General Claw had left off. However, the inexperienced operative found herself unable to prevent the Kamen Rider’s continual interference, at one point nearly allowing secret codes from the organization to fall into the hands of FBI agents. Trying to head off the Striker team, Shadow attempted to create their own version of the Striker Corps, known the GOLEM Youth Battalion as well as trying to use a fake Striker to convince a local government to try and take him down. All these attempts would fail, however, and though Shadow transformed herself into the KamikuraQueen, she was forced to retreat to GOLEM’s HQ with Striker on her heels. Begging the Supreme Golem to save her, he instead revealed that she was merely a sacrificial pawn and blew up the HQ, apparently taking her as well as the organization with it, apparently ending Striker’s mission with it.

Final Arc

However, GOLEM merely moved it’s main HQ elsewhere and soon began to put it’s final plans into operation. Alerted by a Striker Corp member, Tetsuo soon found himself facing far more powerful foes and losing battles as much as he was winning. At the same time, GOLEM operatives began to kidnap scientists right under the noses of Maki and his friends. It would be Detective Ferris who would ultimately stumble onto the truth and with the combined help of Striker Corp members, Laura’s research as well as a local sympathetic federal government office, Kamen Rider Striker was able to track down GOLEM’s Command HQ to the middle of the Nevada desert. Facing off first against GOLEM’s ultimate mutant, the End-Warrior as well as the organization’s final high commander, Minister Doom, Kamen Rider Striker was finally able to penetrate inner sanctum where he faced the truth form of the Supreme GOLEM: a huge mass of brain matter and facial muscles. Here he learned of the organization’s final plan: the mass hijacking of every satellite in Earth orbit, with a plan to drop it across the surface of the world, plunging it into a new dark age from which GOLEM could rule supreme. Running out of time, Striker found himself at a disadvantage against the Supreme GOLEM, who used it’s psychokinetic powers and tentacles to force Tetsuo out of his transformation. Not wanting to give up and with time running out, Tetsuo forced himself to transform and with the power of his belief in justice and hope, finally managed to dispatch the creature using the Striker Corona Burning Kick, in the process destroying the control center for satellites as well. Escaping from the exploding HQ, Tetsuo could only watch as the evil which had plagued him finally ended. While GOLEM had finally been finished, he found that he could not bring himself to go back to a normal life and bidding his friends goodbye, decided to ride the country in hopes of finding a new path for himself.

Kamen Rider Melody and Kamen Rider Striker: Final Attack

However, peace would not last long. After some time, Tetsuo became aware of surviving GOLEM elements having made their way to Japan in hopes of starting operations up once more. Hooking up with his friends, Tetsuo made his way to Tokyo, in hopes of trying to hunt down and stop the villains before they could harm anyone else. However, he soon fell into a trap and found himself captured by the leader of Neo-GOLEM, Shogun Fear. Fear attempted to brain wash Striker into becoming a loyal soldier of the organization, implanting in him the knowledge of how to destroy Kamen Riders as well as a trigger in case he ever was to encounter one. However, the process was not totally successful and Tetsuo managed to escape, though left amnesic in the process. Managing to make his way through the city, Tetsuo found himself drawn to The Hotel for reasons unknown. While the others soon discovered his cyborg nature, Tetsuo himself met Allison Blitz, an idol who herself was a Kamen Rider. However, as he witnessed her transform, the programming which had been placed inside him activated and it took several other Hotel members to stop him from nearly killing her. Fleeing from the Hotel in shame and confusion, Tetsuo soon encountered the legendary double riders and after learning from them the meaning of justice and hope, recovered his memories. Teaming up with the two as well as a recovered Kamen Rider Melody, the four faced Shogun Fear, who had recovered the skull of the original form of the Great Leader. However, much to their surprise, Shogun Fear’s form was soon overcome by the power of the Great Leader, transforming him into the Great Shocker Shogun! Facing off a group of Shocker and GOLEM Mutants, the Kamen Riders were finally able to defeat their enemy, ending GOLEM once and for all. Striker would eventually leave Japan but never forgetting the encounter he had with fellow warriors of justice.

Current Situation

Tetsuo Maki, being a cyborg and not aging a day, continues the battle for justice and hope and keeps an eye out for any remnants of Geldam and GOLEM in hopes of preventing any other innocents from being harmed. He also continues to keep in contact with other Riders.

Abilities

Tetsuo Maki at first had no real skills to speak of. He was average at school and fairly poor in athletics, easily getting winded and having little to no stamina to speak of. He also had trouble with vehicles, getting easily motion sick. After his conversation by GOLEM and as part of Project STRIKER, Tetsuo had knowledge of basic fighting techniques as well as how to utilize a motorcycle implanted into his brain. Even when untransformed, Tetsuo has incredible strength as well as heightened senses, though this can be a weakness if targeted specifically by a foe. Tetsuo also has a quicker healing factor then most humans.

Striker

Kamen Rider Striker is a Kaizo Ningen (altered human) or cyborg. As discovered by the EMH in The Hotel, more than 80% of Striker’s body is machinery with the rest of his biology altered on a genetic level. Striker’s body is constructed of a special alloy which is able to turn away most attacks (though if strong enough they can not only damage him but also force him back into his normal state of Tetsuo Maki). Striker also can detect objects from a greater distance thanks to “S Eyes” as well as able to hear and sense locations thanks to the “S Sensors” in his helmet.

Kamen Rider Striker’s original form after first being converted. This form had a green body with darker blue lines on it along with a red scarf around his neck. Most notable for this body was his “four points of power” from which he could gather energy to perform his attacks.

Techniques

Striker Piston Kick: Striker’s main attack, a double motion kick against his foes.

Striker Flight Drop: a kick from above down onto his enemies in midair.

Striker Punch: a super powered punch.

Striker Throw: Striker grabs his enemy and throws them into the air.

Striker Light Flash: Flash of light from eyes. Only used once.

Strike Cycle Attack: Slams into enemy with motorcycle.

After being killed by powerful Rex Warrior, Tetsuo was operated on a second time by Dr Fawkner, with an additional “S Generator” placed inside of him. This resulted in a change of his appearance, the dark blue lines transforming red on his body. This new state is powerful enough that even a direct blow by Kamen Riders such as melody do little damage to him. He also gained a few new attacks.

Techniques

Striker Burning Kick: a much more powerful version of Stiker Piston Kick but with one foot.

Striker Spin Attack: grabs his opponent and spins him around, throwing it high into the air.

Striker Burning Release: Releases energy from S Lines on body. Drains energy quickly.

Striker Corona Burning Kick: Extremely high powered version of the burning kick.

Equipment

- Striker Core: Transformation Belt

- Strike Cycle: Striker’s personal Rider Machine

Notes

  • Though technically part of the Heisei generation of Riders, Tetsuo tends to team up more with Showa riders, to the point of acting as an "unofficial" member.
  • Though normally seen with a scarf, Striker often goes without one in his remodeled form.
  • Tetsuo has missed almost every Kamen Rider team up due to the fact that he is often more active in the United States instead of Japan.
  • Kamen Rider Striker is known to the FBI at least as a rumor.
  • Striker's augmentations include both cybernetic as well as biological alterations to his body. While only 80% of his body is machine based, the rest has been so heavily altered that very little is his own natural state outside of his brain.
  • Striker is part of the five "New Generation Showa Riders", which also includes Kamen Rider Alpha, Kamen Rider Kaiden, Kamen Rider XS and Kamen Rider GO.
