Zan's Drum

This is the training drum that was given to Zalan by TheHunterKiller. While it is an ordinary drum and has no power, it is an artifact, having been in her family for generations before going unused for centuries. It is probably about 6,000 years old, but being kept in HK's astral pocket has significantly retarded its' aging. On one side of the drum is a list of names and dates (in Lupa) of those who used it.

The drum itself is about 15" in height and 2' wide, with round sides. A few holes around the middle allow for sound to pass through, as it is intended to sit on the ground or floor when used. The drum head is made with extremely thick hide to take the wear and tear of a strong Lupa child jumping wildly, and thus this type of drum is made with stronger wood than other drums, as well.

Traning drums are used by some Lupa to help their young children develop strength in their legs, feet, and tail, as well as to teach rythm and familiarize them with the cadances of common songs. Parents using a drum with their children will encourage them to use it dynamically, and disvover the many different sounds they can make with it as far as placement on the drum and the force or lighteness with which they strike it. Quiet children are also likely to become more vocal through using one.
