Astrophysical Information
Tylli is a small planet, approximately 5.12 parsecs (16.7 light years) from Earth. It is a largely unnoticed planet, settled only by those who happen to stumble upon it. Though believed to be impossible by many who study the parent star, Tylli is a more advanced civilization than astronomy gives it credit for. According to some, the parent star, Alpha Aquilae (Altair), is too young to hold a life sustaining planet with anything more structured than bacteria. However, Tylli plays host to many different races, most of whom arrived over the course of the last thousand years to settle on the small celestial structure and call it home.

Landscape/Appearance
As such a tiny planet orbiting a wild, young star, most of Tylli is a barren wasteland. There are oases of water and little plantlife, though according to Jameson, the view can be exquisite in the inhabited areas, where local lifeforms have brought vegetation from their homes to Tylli. Otherwise, the planet is not unlike Mars in appearance, though the surface looks much less inviting than the familiar Red Planet.
Civilization
Government
The government of Tylli is highly structured and very non-democratic, even bordering closer to communist or dictatorship than capitalist. A small hierarchy of rulers beginning with the supreme chancellor. This individual is selected by his predecessor and an be chosen from anyone populating the planet, then trained for 10 years beside his mentor. Upon being replaced, the old chancellor becomes a Lareow (Old English "Teacher"), the moral compass and gentle guide of the new leader. There can be as many Lareow as necessary. Old chancellors hold this position until death, and some species on Tylli live very long lives.
One tier down in the governmental structure is the Hildemec, or warrior generals. These military leaders are the link between the general population and the chancellor, reporting directly to him/her to speak for their squadrons. Most Hildemec are very old squad members who have spent their entire lives preparing for the (nonexistent) wars the Tyllian ancients foretold.
Finally, at the bottom of the chain of command are the battalion leaders. Jameson quickly worked his way to this position, holding his own battalion by the age of 13. He was well on his way to becoming a Hildemec, though never reached the rank before leaving the planet to journey to Earth. Most battalion leaders are in their mid to late twenties, making Jameson the youngest ever.
Population
Tylli, though only slightly smaller than Earth, has a largely smaller population. The population rests just above 300,000, but the majority of the population lives in small, camp-like towns in the small areas of Tylli which are inhabitable. The planet's diverse inhabitants are from all over the galaxy, coming from small planets which had overpopulated.
Language
Without the oddities of the complex English language we know today due to the lack of other languages to mix into it, the citizens of Tylli speak ancient English. In its original form, their ancient language is the original English, written form in runes, and untainted by cultural additions. Without the influence of the TARDIS, Jameson speaks his planet's native language, and all his handwriting is runic. He's slowly learning from Amanda how to properly use his English, and the two often leave the Hotel and the influence of the Time Lord Technology in place to translate.
Many inhabitants of Tylli also speak the languages of their own origins, though the settlement on the universal language came from previous contact of many of the species with ancient Earth. All official declarations, announcements, and government funded/approved signs and carvings are written or spoken in Runic English.
