Gensokyo
Gensokyo is a hidden community which is usually sealed off from the rest of the world. It is home to several youkai and other characters which appear in chat. These characters are most closely affiliated with the Langister family and Gensokyo was at one time saved by Solarchos.
Areas of Interest
Scarlet Devil Mansion: The home of Remilia and Flandre Scarlet, and residence of Sakuya Izayoi. Meiling Hong is supposed to be the gatekeeper, but her narcolepsy causes no end of trouble.
Human Village: From time to time, Humans end up drifting into Gensokyo through the Great Hakurei Barrier. As many of them often lack the means to defend themselves against the various youkai and other monsters, they tend to congregate here.
Hakurei Shrine: Reimu Hakurei resides here, and she maintains the Great Hakurei Barrier.... or at least she's supposed to, but a combination of general laziness and dwindling faith have kinda made that job more of a chore.
Bamboo Forest of the Lost: A gigantic forest composed of bamboo, as the name would indicate. Fujiwara no Mokou can often be found here.
Eientei: The residence of Eirin Yagokoro and Reisen Udongein Inaba, Eirin uses her medical knowledge to help treat people, with Reisen as her assistant. Beware of a certain rabbit known as Tewi Inaba, as she is a notorious trickster.
Tengoku (Heaven): Normally virtuous souls ascend to this realm. However, Tenshi Hinanawi was granted Celestial Status alongside her parents, and proves to be an infamous problem, even among the Celestials.
Jigoku (Hell) Whereas virtuous souls go to Heaven, sinful souls come here to Hell. It's been implied there is more than one Hell, and that the current Hell was established due to overpopulation, with the Former Hell being the dwelling of many Oni.
Hakugyokorou: Yuyuko's Netherworld. Often enough, only those able to actually die are able to come here, which prevents truly immortal beings like Mokou from being able to visit.
Higan: Shikieki Yamaxanadu holds her court here, judging souls. She is one of the ten yama that judge whether a soul goes to Heaven or Hell.
Youkai Mountain: The only genuine mountain in Gensokyo is home to several groups of youkai, most notably the White Wolf Clan (Momiji Inubashiri's people), the Crow-Tengu (Aya Shameimaru's people), and the Kappa (Nitori Kawashiro's people). It's easily recognizable for the seven waterfalls that cascade down its sides the originate from the lake at its summit, next to which is located the Moriya Shrine. Visible from pretty much anywhere in Gensokyo, Youkai Mountain serves as a landmark for everyone. The goddesses Kanako and Suwako also live here.
Garden of the Sun: A huge field of sunflowers growing in a bowl valley, this place is home to none other than Yuuka Kazami. Visitors should be EXTREMELY careful not to damage ANY of the plants, otherwise Yuuka will become violently angry. Because of her reputation, very few Humans and Youkai come here, although Faeries aren't uncommon. Children, however, NEVER come to harm here, as Yuuka is one of a handful of Youkai who's a fanatical protector of young children.
The Forest of Magic: Situated northwards of the Bamboo Forest of the Lost, the Magic Forest is a thick, deep deciduous forest where Alice Margatroid and Marisa Kirisame live. Mushrooms and other kinds of fungi are quite abundant here, and the Forest's deepest parts are actually quite dangerous because of high concentrations of spores in the air, as well as dangerous animals (which don't seem to bother Marisa in the slightest). The mushrooms here are used for a great many purposes, including food, medicine, poison, and spell components.
Kourindou: A large shop located far outside of the Human Village, this place is home to Rinnosuke Morichika (the Unmoving Used Goods Seller). Kourindou is a place where just about anything can be found: items from the Outside or even other worlds can be found for sale here, occasionally supplied by Yukari Yakumo herself. During the "Illusion of the Future" Incident, Solarchos' group actually found a working plasma rifle from the Imperium, and one time Reisen and Tewi found a functional anti-tank mine (that Tewi accidentally armed). Marisa is a frequent visitor and occasional shoplifter here.
