The Lover

The Lover is a resident of the Juuban Shopping Mall Dungeon and thrives on the illusions within the mind's eye: those the viewer cares about most. It is capable of escaping the confines of the Juuban Dungon and has had few qualms with passing into the Hotel. The Lover is seeking three orbs but will not share what their purpose is or why they are so sought after. The only other detail revealed is that The Lover comes from a land called Ooo.

One without love in their heart will see a naked figure draped only in an opaque veil and taking on the gender the viewer finds more visibly appealing. Only the truly hardened soul can see this since The Lover reveals even the deepest and most denied desire.

The Myth

In a fair kingdom from a faraway land there was a Prince who was betrothed. He was fair and he loved his princess very much. On the night before his wedding there was a celebration in the square and many came from far and wide in order to entertain the royalty. One woman in particular was a dancer with movements like water and grace like a swan. The prince was so taken by this woman's dance in the palace square that he found himself smitten. He wished to see her sway in the light of the moon by the ocean or by candlelight up close. He wished to learn her name and speak it for days and he wished to feel how her hands felt in his own.

In the throws of festivities the prince excused himself to seek out the dancer. He traveled past the fire breathers and didn't acknowledge the acrobats or the jugglers. He found the dancers but he sought for one in particular. While walking through the arrays of reds and blues he found the one dancer dressed in green with silver bangles on her ankles and cuffs up to her forearms. He whisked her away to see her dance and appreciate her art for what it was. She took the prince out to a lake deep in the forest taught him to dance on the night before his wedding.

The next morning, when the prince was due to return for his wedding, the dancer begged him to stay for she loved him so. Regretfully he told her that he couldn't, for his destiny waited with the woman who loved him so. The dancer was displeased with his words: she wagered a bet with him that when he returned to the castle if she called the Prince by his name and kissed him then his kingdom would have many years of happiness. If she did not then the prince would be doomed to eternity seeking out one who truly loved the prince for who he was. The prince agreed to the terms but was unaware of what the dancer had done exactly. He made his way back to the castle and did not notice the confused glances upon the faces the people he passed by. He returned and found his beautiful bride and called out her name. The princess to be turned to look at him and was delighted but confused all at once. She spoke a name but it was not one that he recognized as she asked him what he was doing there. The handmaiden was confused as well and called him by another name. To the Prince's horror, he realized that the dancer had cursed him. He left the palace and sought out woman who had scorned him but she was nowhere to be seen.

And so, for eternity a figure walks the earth seen only as what others desire. The identity was shed and whomever there was before had begun to be forgotten. So travels The Lover, doomed to never be loved but only desired.
