Mould-on-the-Wold is a village located in the Cotswolds, England. and known for it's annual large, tourist-attracting Halloween party.

Residents

This village is populated by both Wizarding folk and Muggles, and is the location of Greyheather Cottage, the home owned by Caroline Carr. Both magical and Muggle alike know of each other, and generally get along. They've been able to turn this embrace of tolerance into a very attractive tourist spot for old traditional festivals.

Events

The residents of Mould-on-the-Wold organize and host several festivals during the year to increase their attraction to tourists and to keep up traditions much of the rest of the world has moved on from. The largest and most well-known is their Halloween party.

Spring Festival

Held on May Day, the spring festival is a light-hearted affair rather like a fair, with charity auctions, teas, and a small flower show. Traditional events like the May pole are held. Many children (and adults) dress up as faerie folk and other such costumes.

Midsummer's Eve

Held on the summer solstice with a bonfire, dancing. Costumes are allowed, and in good years there is also an agricultural festival. Elements of an ancient solstice ceremony are performed for posterity and tourists to see what it might have been like.

Halloween Party

The Halloween party is the largest event of the year, and includes both Wizarding and Muggle traditions. Planning begins nearly as soon as the previous one is over, and festivities usually include a haunted hayride, games for all, plenty of refreshments, and entertainment.

A portion of the night is devoted to the pumpkin canon, in which those aged 17 or older may participate in smashing pumpkins launched at them en masse from a large specialty 'cannon'. While no one has died, there have been serious injuries on occasion. Larger defensive creatures like giants or Mongoosetigers and others who are perfectly capable of handling this event should they be hit with a large pumpkin may participate without reaching the age limit. There is a modified age/capability line (similar in appearance to the age line used in Goblet of Fire) to ensure that no one can flout these limits.

Midwinter's Eve

Like the Summer festivals, there are old ceremonies of midwinter/solstice for tourists, bonfires, and many inns and taverns provide warm drinks for guests to cozy up at the fireside. This festival includes a yule log competition, demonstrations on how to make wassail, and public tree decorating for all.
