[20:10] <Celeste> Self Awareness is a hell of a drug.

So here's where it gets complicated: one day Celeste was kidnapped by The Corruptor. He made copies of those that he kidnapped and had them fight to become his next true daughter. Celeste became fully aware of her situation and chose to turn on him. That didn't go very well.

She remembers being Indigo, once, when Sailor Io was trying to find a peace between her new calm and her lingering sense of duty to the Satellite Senshi. She remembers being Celeste, and the life she made with her mate and daughter. But she remembers something the other two do not, and that was her abduction at the hands of The Corruptor, and her participation in the Successor Idol challenge.

Celeste tried to hold out. She knew with absolute certainty that Yaijinden would come to for her and Faye both. She held out as long as she could, but as days, weeks, months, and years passed in the timeless void of their prison, she finally realized that her captor had put them both beyond Yaijinden's reach. Out of compassion, the Corruptor assured them; Yaijinden was fickle, Yaijinden would forget them in the fullness of time, Yaijinden was not worthy of their affection. He, on the other hand, knew what it was to have people precious to him, and what it was like to watch them die, and thus knew the true value of family.

And so, in time, she accepted his ideas. She vowed to win the Successor Idol contest and prove herself worthy of his affections. At his command, she made appearances in the Hotel between rounds, challenging her lost love in an attempt to throw him off and unbalance his decisions -- and to prove to herself that he was in fact not that intereested in her. But as the game went on, Yaijinden persisted, planting just enough of a seed of doubt within her that when the Corruptor tossed Faye away as the cost of losing a round, Celeste realized that the Corruptor regarded her solely as a means to an end, and subsequently resolved to sabotage the workings of Successor Idol.

She succeeded, to a significant extent -- revealing that she and everyone else competing in Successor Idol was in fact a form of clone of the true people, who had spent time-compression in a connected pocket dimension and were unaware that anything had happened. In the ultimate confrontation with sabotaging the Corruptor's machinations and the pocket dimension containing his last control, the Hotelians investigating/invading discovered that her body was being sustained by the very technological mechanisms underlying the dimension. In the end, what saved her was not the considerable power of those present, but an affirmation of love that healed the wound in her heart and soul, and gave her a new chance at life.
