The Early Years of a Tyrant

Selenity X was the first born of Selenity IX and her consort, of the royal house of The Moon. From an early age, Selenity was raised in absolute luxury, spoiled by servants and flattered in turn. She was taught that as the heir apparent, the kingdoms of the solar system were hers to command, a view which would warp the young girl's personality. As she grew, her special brand of malice would become even more apparent. She took on a unusual interest in the darker secrets of her mother, something which her parents had tried to avoid exposing her to until she was of age. At meetings attended by other royal heads of the planets, she would interact and flatter many of them in a manner which were frightenly un-childlike. At the age of 12, her younger sister Serene was born, becoming a special target for her arrogance and anger in the process. By the time that she was a teenager, she had already gained sway among many of the smaller satellite kingdoms, minor rulers of obscure nations on the moon, as well as the loyalty of more then a few of the older queens. Eventually Selenity had enough of her parents and using a poison prepared for her by the Queen of Mercury, slew both, quickly taking the throne and proclaiming herself the master of the Solar System.

Reign of the Tyrant

It did not take long for Selenity X to make clear the sort of ruler she was to be. While her mother had been quite the autocrat (doing such notable things as exiling the entire royal family of Saturn), she had hidden it well behind kind words and a likable personality. Selenity lacked these qualities, though she had a strangely dark charisma, which seemed to draw others to her. Selenity X soon consolidated her power, turning the warriors of the satellites into her own personal army, as well as showering political "favorites" with offices and postions. Of particular note was the Princess Nehelenia, the heir to a minor no-name kingdom found on the dark side of the moon, who she became very close to and made her right hand.

As she grew older, she became more obsessed with the legendary powers of her ancestors. Long ago they had been given the crystal Ginzuishou, allowing the queens of the moon to tap into unimaginable power but over the years, they, as well as the other queens, had lost much of the fantastic powers they had once had, leaving them mere shadows of the beings they had once been. She soon commissioned the leaders of Mercury to find a way to duplicate the energies of the planetary crystals, sending political dissidents as well as kidnapped children to the queen of the icey world to be experimented on. At the same time, she began to grow paranoid about her own postion. She became more prone to childish angry fits, as well as clamping down on the smallest of infractions, both real but mostly imagined. She withdrew into her castle, keeping in contact with only a few, while allowing her Centurions to indulge their darkest of desires. When she began to fear that Princess Metis of Quinox was gaining too much popularity among the Outer Worlds, she had the young teenager killed and forced the Queen of the planet to apologize to Selenity for the event. Yet, through this all, the older planetary queens remained loyal to her, some out of a desire for power, some out of fear and some out of a lack of willpower.

Through all this, Selenity gave no thought to her younger sister, seeing her nothing more then a weakling beneath her notice. Unbeknownst to her, Serene had grown disgusted by her Selenity's actions and wanting to end her hateful reign, set about to begin a secret rebellion against her, joined by many of the young princesses of her age.
