Project Sailor V
Project Sailor V was the first phase of a new project envisioned by TOEI and Naoko Takeuchi in 2023 to reboot the "Sailor Moon" franchise without paying out any royalties to Haruka and the others for having used their names, likenesses and life stories.
The idea was to radically reimagine the origins, identities, appearance and adventures of Sailor V and the other Sailor Soldiers so as to divorce them entirely from anything that had come before. Sailor V would start out seemingly close to what had come before before shocking the audience with a brand-new change of direction.
Cleverly, Aino Minako decided to have Ginga Media Enterprises join the project as a joint financier so that at least some of the profits would still flow back to her.
The project phases were laid out as follows:
- Series: Sailor V (Live Action, 2024 - 2025)
- Series: Pretty Protector Sailormoon (Live Action, 2025 - 2026)
- Series: Iron Genius Sailormercury (Live Action: 2025-2026)
- Movie: The Moonlight Legend is born! Epic teamup, super teamup!! (Live Action, V + Moon + Mercury crossover, 2026)
- Series: Pretty Protectors vs. the Sailor Warriors! God-battler Sailormoon! (2 season Live Action seried seeing the new Pretty Protector team vs two new characters, Firemaster Sailormars and God-Punisher Sailorjupiter (2027-2028)
- OVA: The Delightful Duo! Sky-King Sailoruranus and Sea-Mistress Sailorneptune vs the Evil Dr. Dimension! (Anime, 2028)
- Movie: The Pretty Protectors vs the Galaxy Queen (Anime, 2029 - intended to close out the live action series and launch a new anime using the live action actors as VAs)
- Anime: Pretty Protectors R (2030)
As of 2024, Sailor V has started production, with Yuki Sakuraba as the lead actress playing Sailor V.
