History

Early Life

Makoto Kino was born on December 5, 200X. As a child, her parents were killed in an airplane accident, leaving her an orphan. Growing up apparently on her own, Makoto was a very confident individual, though she had a soft side as well. In Middle School, she had her heart broken by a boy she only referred to as "sempai." Eventually, she transferred schools, rumored to be because she had gotten into a fight, but in actually she'd felt drawn elsewhere.

Guardian of Thunder

Makoto Kino’s life changed the day she saved a girl from getting run over by a car. Unbeknownst to Makoto, the girl, one Tsukino Usagi, was a classmate at her new school, as well as the source of the strange feeling that had brought her to that decision. After an encounter with a ghostly bride at a nearby shop, Makoto awoke fully as Sailor Jupiter, the guardian of thunder and a member of the Inner Sailor Guardians and killing Nephrite in the process, unaware he had once been her lover in her past life. Mako would continue to work along side the other guardians until they finally found themselves face to face with the wicked Queen Beryl, leader of the Dark Kingdom. However, before the girls could do anything of real meaning, a strange pink haired child appeared, blasting away Beryl and leaving Jupiter and the others completely dumbfounded. The girl, named Chibi-Usa, would go on to proclaim herself the new leader of the guardians, while Mako and the other girls with nothing left to do, went back to their regular lives.

The Future and The Girl from the Sky

Things remained fairly quiet until a group calling themselves the Black Moon Clan arrived from the future, seeking out “The Rabbit” and the Silver Crystal. One of their members, a man named Rubeus, managed to kidnap Mako, Rei, and Ami in an effort lure out their target. Mako and the others would be freed, however, by Chibi-Usa (the Rabbit in question) summoning another Sailor Guardian out of thin air, crashing her through Rubeus’ UFO, destroying it and him in the process. While Chibi-Usa would leave briefly for the future to “deal with this crap,” the girls would briefly learn the new guardian was Sailor Q, who had been pulled from the United States, much to her own confusion.

The next day at lunch, Mako would meet the girl once again, learning she was Matsumi Shin, and now going to Juuban Middle School. During a conversation, she, along with Usagi and Ami, would learn that Matsumi was living at al local hostel, with no where else to go. Wanting to help her out, Makoto offered to let Matsumi move into her apartment, along with her cat Freya. Happily, Matsumi agreed, but not before Mako helped Matsumi with a bit of shopping in preparation. The two would eventually become very close, treating each other almost like sisters.

A School and A Girl’s Dream

While events in Tokyo seemed quiet, soon enough evil once again reared its ugly head. One day, while out with her friends, Makoto witnessed a student from Mugen Academy transform into a horrifying monster! Quickly transforming, Jupiter and the rest of the guardians were able to defeat the creature, but very quickly realized something was seriously wrong with the school the student had come from. Deciding to investigate, Makoto was at first against both Usagi and Matsumi infiltrating Mugen but eventually came around to the idea. However, the two didn’t get very far before Chibi-Usa showed up and ended the conflict before it could even start. In the process, Mako and the other guardians also met Haruka Tenou and Michiru Kaioh, who had apparently been planning to investigate the school itself before things had ended prematurely. With nothing more to do, Makoto and the others returned to their normal life. Feeling a little frustrated by her inablity to fight any enemies, Makoto soon discovered an underground fight club. Taking on the name of ThunderRose and wearing a mask, Mako takes part in the occasional martial arts match, using the money to fund her love of kitchen gadgets and expensive teas.

As exams loomed, Makoto began to feel the pressure getting to her. Seeking some relief, Mako, Matsumi and Usagi entered a brand new shop in town. Enamored with the high tech kitchen appliances as well as various cooking products, Mako began to obsessively buy them up, unaware that she was falling under the power of the malevolent genus loci of the store. Eventually snapping out of it, Makoto transformed into a new, slightly upgraded form before destroying monster with a new powerful attack. Makoto eventually would pass her exams, attending Juuban High School with the other girls.

However a new challenge would arise for Mako, as a decision by Freya to abandon her cat form for the most part meant that they were very quickly running out of room at the apartment. Deciding that a new change was needed, Makoto and Matsumi put their money together and moved into a new, larger apartment, just one floor above the old.

A Brand New Day

Not long after her first day at Juuban High School, Makoto joined the other girls in witnessing the once in a life time event of a full solar eclipse. Enamored by the sight, the girls were unaware of the threat hiding away near the sun, that is not until Chibi-Usa returned with her new boyfriend, having just defeated the “Dark Moon Circus”.

Makoto currently attends high school with her friends, enjoying her teenage life to the fullest.

Personality

Makoto Kino is a kindhearted if rather intense teenage girl. The loss of her family as well as her own insecurities caused her no ends of trouble when she was younger, Resulting in her nearly getting into fights at various times. While she is now far more relaxed thanks to Usagi Tsukino, she still has a slightly intense side that can come out when her friends and loved ones are threatened. She does have a softer side to her, which often manifests in her love of cooking and interest in all things kitchen based. She also tends to be a bit of a romantic, though she does not pine for her lost loves, focusing instead on the present. She has a strong relationship with Matsumi Shin, treating her like a sister in many ways.

Powers

Flower Hurricane: A flurry of flower petals that can blind her opponent.

Jupiter Thunderbolt: A lightening based attack shot from her hands.

Coconut Cyclone: A ball of lightening and petals that blasts an opponent on impact.

In addition, Makoto apparently has superhuman strength, far in advance of any normal human her age. She is able to use this power both in regular and guardian form.
