School Overview

A prestigious educational institution located near Tokyo on its own man-made island 3.2 kilometers in width. Home to over 10,000 students, faculty and staff in 5 divisions, along with educators and staff, CLAMP Gakuen is one of the foremost schools in Japan, if not the world. Education is open to rich and poor, so long as they show substantial talent, making this school and student body culturally diverse. CLAMP Gakuen was founded in 19XX by the Imonoyama zaibatsu and is 100% privately funded. The elevator system ensures that all students at CLAMP are spared from the horror of entrance examinations for their entire academic career.

Chairwoman Imonoyama

One of the higher ranking members of the Imonoyama zaibatsu, the Chairwoman is a woman of mystery. She never shows her full face and usually is shown holding a fan over her eyes or with her face behind a curtain. No one knows her exact age or her full name. She has a very distinct and pleasant laugh.

Academic Life

The school is laid out in the shape of a Wiccan pentagram, or a five-pointed star in a circle. Features of the campus include the five divisional buildings, Gamera Hall, the Coliseum, the Salad Bowl athletic dome, the Emerald Ocean aquatic complex, libraries, various food stalls and restaurants, a full-service hospital, zoo, shopping district and botanical gardens. All divisions are linked by a subway that runs the circumference of the campus.

A majority of CLAMP Gakuen students are commuters. There are no restricitons to commuting to campus although there are guidelines (kindergarten students must be dropped off by parents/guardians for example.) Along with local train and bus service, CLAMP Gakuen has connections to the Shinkansen (bullet train,) an airport for small passenger jets and a helipad for helicopters.

The CLAMP Gakuen dormitories are typically only occupied by students 16 years or older as well as foreign exchange students. The dormitory amenities include both private and communal baths, direct delivery from any eatery on campus, high speed Internet connections, fitness centers, student lounges, satellite TV and interior design services for student rooms.

Except for kindergarten and the university/graduate school division, the CLAMP Gakuen student body is divided by year into five groups, which are then divided into 26 classes, A-Z. (Group 5 has classes U-Z while the other groups have 5 classes each.) Class assignments are fixed up until junior high, and then the placement of students becomes completely random. Each group has its own set of teachers for each subject, and each year the teachers are randomly assigned as well.

School Government

CLAMP Gakuen is unique in that its governing is handled by the student body itself. Their decisions outrank those made by the board of directors and the PTA. Each class has one elected class representative for the class's student council, and each division elects 3-5 of its students for the division's governing student council.

Events and festivals at CLAMP Gakuen are planned by a division's governing student council, often in conjunction with other divisions. There are several school-wide events (New Student Orientation, Cultural Festival, New Year's Festival) that are planned by the five councils as a whole.

Clubs and Associations

CLAMP Gakuen has limitless clubs presenting a variety of opportunities for those to broaden their horizons. A club has to go through a rigorous application process in order to be officially recognized. By doing so, however, they are allowed an almost limitless budget. Associations (like the CLAMP Gakuen Paranormal Research Association) that have not been officially recognized are allowed to operate as long as they do not break any cardinal rules laid out by the Lifestyle Monitoring Committee.
