Life Before #ss2: Wedding Peach

Scarlet Ohara (スカレット・小原), whose alias as an Ai Tenshi is Salvia (サルビア), is a young Tenshi who has been living fairly peacefully on Earth for the past ten years. She has brilliant crimson hair and purple eyes.

Scarlet was born in Tenshi Kai (天使界), the daughter of two Tenshi, Butler and Vivian. At a young age she asked her father to train her in sword fighting, and Butler happily obliged by teaching her until she was able to enroll in the Tenshi fighting school. At the school, she met another young Tenshi girl, Freesia, and the two formed a lasting friendship. However, the peaceful times would soon end as Reine Devilla began her assault against Tenshi Kai. Scarlet would see Freesia fall at the hands of an Akuma after Freesia asked Scarlet to show the enemy mercy. In anguish, Scarlet slew the Akuma and then vowed to personally take care of any Akuma she ever came across. Some time later, Scarlet as well as Lily and Daisy (the previous forms of the Ai Tenshi) and Celeste (the mother of Momoko Hanasaki aka Wedding Peach) found themselves locked in battle with Uraganos, strongest of the Akuma. Scarlet was badly wounded, Lily and Daisy were killed, and Celeste and Uraganos were blown to Earth and developed amnesia. As the battle raged on, Aphrodite-sama sent the Saint Something Four to Earth and began to shore up the defenses of Tenshi Kai with Scarlet at her side. Years later, when Aphrodite sensed the awakenings of the Ai Tenshi, she dispatched Scarlet to go to Earth to assist them in the battle. Scarlet grudgingly obliged, realizing that this opportunity would allow her to hunt down Akuma. She found the Saint Something New and encountered the Ai Tenshi, but was aghast at the fact that they showed mercy to their enemies and even had accepted the (reformed) devil Jama-P. While she turned her back to the Ai Tenshi at first, eventually during a battle against Potamos, Momoko convinced Scarlet that they needed to work together for the good of the Earth. Their powers united, they started their final assault against Reine Devilla and eventually turned her back into the innocent child Averse.

Life Before #ss2: Wedding Peach DX and Beyond

At first, Scarlet lived out her life without the memories of being an Ai Tenshi, until an attack on Momoko by an Akuma during the girls’ summer trip to the beach resulted in their memories returning and their mission of purifying Akuma being renewed. Scarlet accepted her new powers and mission, feeling glad she could be in the service of Aphrodite again. Scarlet encountered a young man at her horseback riding club that was just about to be ambushed by assassins. She saved the young man and was wounded in the process. The young man was Clark Oasis, leader of the World Company Group, and their romance would begin. From candlelit dinners in the Oasis mansion to helicopter rides to deliver bouquets to riding the trails together, the fifteen-year-old and her paramour found true love. Fate, however, would cruelly intervene on a lunar eclipse viewing cruise on the Pacific. The cruise itself was a trap that Clark Oasis had planned. He confirmed to Scarlet he knew her true identity and in turn revealed himself as a Da Tenshi (堕天使) or Fallen Angel, expelled from Tenshi Kai for his beliefs that Tenshi should consider themselves masters of humans. The cruise was filled with the most influential people of the world, and at the moment of the lunar eclipse, the magic circle he had drawn on the deck of the ship would activate the Gate of Power and make him the ruler of the world. However, when the power filled him, it corrupted him to the core, turning him into an Akuma. Even though the Ai Tenshi managed to save him, it was only for a brief and bitter moment before he begged Scarlet to take his life. In their last words together, they each wished they could’ve met each other as humans.

Some months after Clark Oasis’s death, Scarlet learned that Clark had willed her his personal fortune (he was worth at least $100 million). With that much money, Scarlet realized that she could comfortably pay all living expenses and live as a human for as long as she wished, unlike simply posing Clark Kent-style as the half-American girl that was the daughter of the Ohara zaibatsu (which didn’t exist). Scarlet graduated St. Michael Gakuen and applied to several colleges, eventually choosing a four-year business degree program. She remained in touch with Momoko, Yuri, Hinagiku and even Potamos. She bought a penthouse apartment at the top of Sakura Building and was not surprised to see Hiromi Kawanami knocking at her door the day she put a posting on Craigslist looking for a roommate.

Current Events

Scarlet, as owner of the penthouse apartment at the top of Sakura Building, lives with her roommate Suu, Alphonse the cat and Jamachu the annoyance.

House of Moon

During the House of Moon event, the Wedding Peach series never happened, which means that Momoko, Yuri and Hinagiku were never born and the war between Tenshi and Akuma never went on.

Angel Salvia, along with Aphrodite-sama's sister Angel Celeste, and her two allies Angel Lily and Angel Daisy have been dispatched to Earth after an Akuma gang led by the four strongest Akuma in the four tribes broke through Tenshi Kai's defenses and stole the Saint Something Four. Aphrodite-sama, a staunch ally of Queen Serenity, fears that if the Saint Something Four are used by the Akuma, it could bring about the destruction of Crystal Tokyo, Tenshi Kai and the rest of the world.

Seven Swords

Scarlet was staunchly committed to upholding the status quo as she had done for many years under Aphrodite-sama. Her other driving factor in fighting was to ensure Suu's happiness. She bitterly resents the defeat, especially because of the cruelty inflicted onto Suu by some of the Steel Fist in what she assumed was retaliation for her breakup with Judai, along with her own inaction.

Relationships

Scarlet had been dating Dyne for over a year until he proposed to her on February 14. On July 11, they eloped to Las Vegas and were married there in a private ceremony.

Scarlet comes across as being rather blunt and cold to others, but once you get to know her she is a very warm and caring young woman. She has difficulty with letting go of grudges, as indicated by her frosty treatment of the Steel Fist immediately after their victory. She does not use honorifics when talking to others (she was raised in American culture.)

Powers

Scarlet is able to transform, using the phrase “Wedding Excellent Flower!” It is the same transformation as shown in Wedding Peach DX. In her henshin-ed form, she is able to use the Saint Twin Swords and their two attacks (Bridal Fire and Passionate Cake Cut) along with helping Momoko power up the Saint Grenade Critical. Scarlet is skilled in using both one and two swords and spent ten years in her youth perfecting her techniques.

Important Items and Possessions

Pearl Necklace: A gift for her 25th birthday (as a human) from Dyne.

Engagement Ring: A diamond ring with a small scarlet rose-shaped ruby embedded inside.

St. Michael Medal: A graduation gift handed to her by St. Michael Gakuen upon her graduation. She wears it on a gold chain around her neck.

Horseback Riding Gear: Scarlet is known to wear full English riding gear on her horseback riding excursions.

Derby Owners Club Cards: One of Scarlet’s secret vices is the arcade game Derby Owner’s Club, and she owns a sizable stable that she keeps in her purse.

Random Trivia

The name Scarlet Ohara is a pun on Scarlet O’Hara from Gone With the Wind, but her family name literally means “small field.” Scarlet passes herself off as having a Japanese father and American mother.

The names of Scarlet’s parents were confirmed by Wedding Peach creator Nao Yazawa who also says that Sukehiro Tomita was considering that Pluie (one of the Wedding Peach villains who met an early end) would be reborn as a human and fall for Scarlet.

In the Wedding Peach manga Scarlet has an American boyfriend named Dean Butler.

Scarlet spells her name with one T (unlike the Wedding Peach manga where it is spelled "Scarlett.") She will get very angry if you spell it wrong so be careful.

The only people permitted to call Scarlet "Scaa" are Potamos and Dyne.
