First Appearance

Doli Yamada is the general manager at Floral Heaven, and has been there since December 2009. She is of mixed Japanese and Native American heritage, and graduated from business school in 2009. Despite her age, she is intelligent and very good at business--she has no problems yelling at a vendor or commending someone who's done a good job.

She has a large purebred dalmatian named Rosco.

History

Doli's parents, Yukio Tanaka and John Klah, met in California while Yukio was assigned there on business for many years. They married and had Doli rather quickly, and she spent her formative years in Los Angeles with regular trips to see John's family in the southwest. She was influenced by both her mother's Japanese heritage and the Navajo heritage of her father.

When Yukio was reassigned to Tokyo many years later, the family moved to Japan, and Doli finished high school before returning to California for college, where she majored in business administration. She spent a few years at entry level jobs in business, at which time she briefly and foolishly married her boyfriend, Jim Yamada. However, the relationship was horrible and they divorced after only a few months.

Taking a new direction in her life, she decided to move back to Tokyo and attained a master's degree in her field. She didn't change her name because she didn't want to be known for her mother's movement in the business world. After graduating, she was without a job for some time, but was eventually hired by Eiry.

Character and Personality

Like her mother, Doli has the traits of a good business woman, and is a little ambitious when it comes to doing well in business. However, she often tempers this with common sense and a spiritual nature which sometimes comes through from her father's side. She prizes both heritages, but often seems to favor the Navajo side. This is because there are many more Japanese in the world, and it is less likely to be forgotten.

On the whole, Doli is competent in what she sets her mind to, often very approachable, and can usually be seen to try her best. She sometimes is suspicious of others, especially if you are trying to make money off of her or give her a bad deal. She has suffered mild, although in rare instances sharp, discrimination due to her ethnicity, and occasionally this comes through when she deals with others.

Appearance

Doli is a tall, red-skinned woman with mixed features. She has long dark brown hair, usually worn loose or in a bun at work, braided or wound in a leather thong at home, and dark eyes. In her case, her parents features combined give her an exotic and beautiful look, and she is most Japanese looking about the eyes. She is fit and enjoys sports like swimming and lacrosse.

In dress, she is always has a professional wardrobe at work. On her own time, she often prefers a skirt to the knee or walking shorts, or tailored pants in winter. She prefers a short sleeve and at most will go sleeveless in the summer--almost never a tank top.

Colors like navy, red, and green look best on her, and so she tends to wear those colors. She also loves gold, and does a lot of accessorizing in that color.

Other

Doli means bluebird in Navajo.
