At times a paradox and in other times a inoffensive bystander, he has been found to have a large number of time lines intersecting through his existence, making him a potential threat to causality that must be observed. Xadium is a Time Lord and at least partly responsible for some of the more curious goings on in the Azabu-Juuban neighborhood of Tokyo.

Background

Currently 935 Earth years old as of 2011. A graduate of the Arcal Academy on Gallifrey, Doctor Xadium spent his early life working as an academic at the University of Gallifrey, eventually doing research and diplomatic missions on behalf of the high council of Time Lords, including treaty negotiations between powers in the Minyan System.

Time at Arcal Academy

A brilliant if impolitic and reckless student, Xadium gained Notoriety and a small measure of fame for taking his TARDIS out on its maiden voyage in order to see / get readings of Event One, the Hydrogen Inrush immediately preceding the Big Bang. In the process he nearly destroyed his TARDIS (and had a run in with a Great Old One he has been made to forget, whose repercussions have yet to manifest), but got amazing amounts of data and telemetry.

Xadium had a fairly distinguished career at Arcal Academy, where he studied engineering and sciences. He was expected to go far, but his fortunes changed abruptly when, discovering a hidden catacomb, he chanced upon the dormant IGNIS.

Developed to be a living weapon, she was cold and hostile, and attacked Xadium. They battled, but then X barely managed to defeat her, and spared her life. This earned X her gratitude, and over a period of weeks and months he continued to venture into the catacombs to see her, and their relationship grew extremely deep. As he unlocked her heart, he also freed her mind, and for the first time she was her own person, and beginning to enjoy her life as something more than a tool.

However, this was not to last, as IGNIS' reawakening was finally noticed, and forces were sent to recapture her. Learning about this, X made the hardest choice of his life, and cast her into the Void, deleting all remaining records of her existence and construction. He pretended to do it because "there are just some things Time Lords should not meddle with", but the words rang hollow as he lost his first true love.

This cost X his promising career, and the bias ruined his family name, making it difficult for him to find any opportunities to advance either within or without the Academy.

After attaining his I.L.D. (Doctor of Interplanetary Laws) degree at the University of Gallifrey, Xadium worked several minor diplomatic missions for the Time Lords in the Minyan sector,gaining many valuable contacts there, though he did not realize it at the time.

Among them was Lord Vaxilan, who remembered his exploits at Event One, and who saw that he had the potential to do more for Gallifrey. After a time, Vaxilan clandestinely recruited Xadium into the Celestial Intervention Agency to support CIA field operatives in the Minyan Sector.

While at the CIA, Xadium performed mostly minor roles as a logistical specialist. He was, however, one of the few operatives fortunate enough to be in a position to help do anything about the Omega Incident, assisting in the channeling the power of Gallifrey to help get The (Third) Doctor's past incarnations together in one place and time.

During the Sontaran Invasion of Gallifrey

After losing a lot of friends and having to regenerate in the war, X left Gallifrey after the Sontaran invasion, angry at the Doctor for exposing Gallifrey to such danger by opening a hole in the planetary transduction barrier and allowing the enemy access when other means to expose the Vardans might have sufficed. This anger would last until he heard about the Doctor's battle with the Master on Logopolis, and the outcome. (X's anger at the Doctor was so great that when he chanced upon a rare Van Gogh painting of the Doctor's TARDIS exploding he bought it and kept it on his mantle until he finally sold it off centuries later, to Dorium Maldovar.)

Coming to Earth

After an incident of sabotage in which the Master had taken the temporal interocitor from his TARDIS, Xadium was stranded on 20th century Earth. Forced to effect repairs with primitive Terran technology, Xadium slowly converted a Terran apartment into the new infrastructure of his TARDIS, allowing the core of the old machine to regrow into the building. Subsequent to an attack by Matrix, Xadium met and fell in love with Aino Minako. In the future of Earth 1337-B, they would give rise to Sakura Xadium Aino.

Split in Twain

A timeline split at the Plutonian Time Gate in the 31st Century caused Xadium to diverge into two versions of himself.

Xadium Prime

After the split with The Prefect, Xadium cloned his TARDIS, which The Prefect had appropriated, and retired to a quiet life with Minako in Aino House on July 13, 2006. He sacrificed himself, becoming a willing pawn to Jedda Rain in order to prevent Minako's death and let the others try to save the Aster twins, Elda and Keeran Aster, fighting a bloody a battle to the death against many of his friends, being killed by Shaldra Darkness. Minako was given the choice to save Xadium or one of the Asters, and recognizing why Xadium sacrificed himself, she chose the Asters. She planned to use the Dragonballs to revive him later.

Xadium was eventually revived through some means--perhaps the Dragonballs, perhaps the eventual machinations of his wife--and then killed again in late March, 2007. His death opened the window for the coming of the House of Moon; when it ended some two weeks later, Xadium was found bloody and beaten in the rubble of Ten'ou House. To preserve his life, his daughter Sakura put him in a stasis chamber, perhaps to spend the next thousand years healing the terrible damage done to his body and soul.

The next thousand years ended up lasting about a few months, as someone along the way managed to heal the worst that had happened to him.

Near-Death by Broken Hearts

Thanks to a temporal rewrite caused by Sailor Moon, Xadium was divorced by Aino Minako a little after two years since they met. (Due to the events of Lost in Time episode 5, where Xadium had Princess Venus' cousin before he could assassinate Queen Beryl in order to save the timeline, and murdered him several times over in a rage, ultimately divorcing him when they got back to Earth-- in the unaltered timeline, they reconciled.)

Thanks to the intervention of The Yojimbo and The Master, Xadium was catapulted forwards in time by a Weeping Angel, leaving him alone in the future to prepare the way for The Suburban Senshi of the future. Sakura, despite being his daughter from another timeline, devised a daring plan to keep him alive, which would not come to fruition for several decades...

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Xadium's other self carried on...

After the timeline split at the Plutonian Time Gate, "Neo" Xadium, as he was called, was divorced by Aino Minako and was left on his own.

Xadium 2's Abandonment

For time, this version of Xadium took on the title "The Prefect." He fell in love with the Expellian Shaldra Darkness, whose pactio with him opened up his sensitivity to the world of magic and mana, as well as reignited his interest in the universe around him. Under her tutelage, he learned to become a competent demi-mage and fighter. rei.bot subsequently elevated his training to the next level, and elected to have him become one of the founding members of the Iron Soul school of martial arts. This Xadium is a much harder, more short-tempered version who is quick to take action and slow to forgive those who cross him, a contrast to his other more forgiving self. He is Sakura's godfather #4, although they both consider each other father and daughter without qualification. Despite how Minako chose to end her marriage to him, Xadium understood her position and still considers her a close and valued friend and family member, but his hearts belonged only to Shaldra. At one point, Xadium was chosen by rei-bot to be one of the founding members of the Clan of the Steel Fist. Originally drafted into the Steel Fist without his knowledge, Xadium was eventually permitted full awareness of his dual nature, and he embraced it without question. With the Steel Fist's victory, he retained a great deal of his enhanced physical spiritual powers; furthermore, his relationship with his wife, Shaldra, had shifted into brand new strangely-comfortable territory with the the third facet of her personality. In the future of their timeline, they gave rise to two children, Noriko marianna xadium and Lucien the Wanderer. This lifestyle would not last, however, as karma would rise up to punish Xadium for his harder, short-tempered ways. Due to reasons which are still largely--but not totally--unknown, even to X, most of the events of this timeline and his life with Shaldra were erased--all he retains from the experience are fragments of memory. (Only Sakura, Sakura April, Noriko and rei.bot truly remember this old timeline.) Xadium came out of this experience bitter, cynical, and untrusting of women in general, at about this time shedding his name "Xadium" and just calling himself "X".

Death in the Time War / The Bad Wolf X

Having no cause to live, when X found himself back on Gallifrey, locked in the last day of the Time War (during the events of DW: The End of Time), he fought the Daleks, and was about to be killed when Ignis arrived from the future, goaded into breaching the lock on the Time War by The Black Guardian. Ignis attempted to save him, but he was exterminated. She was tricked into reviving his body as a Khadi, wherein he became host for The Corruptor and died. However, unbeknownst to anyone, the White Guardian had preserved X's essence and sent it back in time, wherein this short-lived incarnation emerged as a hybridization of Xadium Prime's several misspent lives--all of them extracted at the hands of a furious Aino Minako operating at her goddess power level.

This "Bad Wolf X" caused a great deal of chaos and havoc, but ultimately, his anger and fury were tamed by a woman named Moonstar, one of the occasional occupants of Ten'ou House. But unbeknownst to anyone, he had been abandoned by Moonstar in the tree where she had lived, having been bound there by his grief at her betrayal. When, in 2010, he was finally extracted from the Tree in order to pose as a Doppelganger X to fool Minako while her version of Xadium was temporarily dead, he began to suffer debilitating self-doubts and pain due to his now triple-loss (first of Minako, then Shaldra, then Moonstar). No longer able to trust, eventually he retreated to his mind-scape to commit suicide. Sakura and rei.bot saved him by completely wiping his mind of all his painful memories.

"Jack Dinsdale" / The Impresario

In order to prevent X from killing himself, Sakura X. Aino and rei.bot mind-wiped X and had Yaijinden create a fake background for him as "Jack Dinsdale" and using a Chameleon Arch to turn him human, hoping he would lead a boring, but happy normal life.

This did not last, however, as Sakura April promptly captured Jack and fused his body into her new "son," the gestalten Impresario. (The Jack Dinsdale currently living is a copy of this version of X made into a Nestene Duplicate by the Corruptor, then subsequently human by Vainamoinen).

A new path

As The Impresario, X met Gemini Sunrise who had arrived in Sakura's TARDIS, knowing more about him than he about her. Eventually he would go back in time and meet her for the first time (from her perspective) and the two became close, fighting back-to-back as they journeyed across half of America until he seemingly died by falling off the Golden Gate Bridge in a battle with the Corruptor in 1927.

In fact, Impresario survived and adopted the moniker "Doc Improbulous," living a normal life until he caught back up with Gemini in 2010 and regenerated.

After The Corruptor decided to weaken The Impresario by tearing away almost everything non "X" about him, Impresario found himself just X once again, albeit augmented by the willpower of hino rei.bot, which The Corruptor could not remove.

Gemini decided to keep her engagement with Impresario alive, and X began to trust her-- and others-- once again. Paisley Pythia Peinforte, whom X treats like a sister, has been encouraging him to use the name "Xadium" once again. The two were married on December 6, 2011 in a ceremony that was interrupted by various enemy aliens, such as Daleks and Quarks, which was followed by a reception of fine food, dancing, and the giving of gifts.

X's Adventures

The Peri Debacle (that wasn't)

On the behest of a Time Lord faction led by High Council member Cardinal Norom (the father of Thrash), X was sent on a mission to rewrite the timeline of one Perpugilliam Brown in order to conceal the Time Lords' meddling with her timeline prior. However, he was unaware that several other Time Lords from other factions were assigned the same task, and along with the five (!) other versions of Peri that ended up being created by the various agents, he created a version of Peri that moved back to Earth with The Warrior King Ycarnos, Yrcanos making a career for himself in the late 20th century in the field of professional wrestling.

This whole incident was the subject of some scandal on Gallifrey, but as multiple factions each wished to avoid losing face to any of the others, the problem was mutually ignored by all parties concerned, and considered to never have happened at all.

Your friendly tech

After finally having had enough of the practice of law, Xadium left his practice and became a "Friendly Repair Technician" (job title "Head Friendly Tech" at the Akibahara location of Tony Stark's "Circuits Maximus", a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stark Industries.

A Rival Appears

After deciding to finally marry Gemini, Xadium incurred the ire of Hazel Ninegate, who felt he was betraying his Gallifreyan heritage taking a human wife. This has caused her to ramp up her plans for testing the mettle and worth of humanity, pitting her directly against Xadium as his favorite planet is now in the crossfire...

Reunification

X almost died when Eudial stabbed him through both hearts, but Sakura's plan to save X prime came to his aid as she saved him by fusing him with his other self using [Potara Earrings]. For the first time in a long time, Xadium was one, and whole, again.

Then he got a haircut and all was right with the world.

"A Doormat no More"

After Vaxilan appeared in the Hotel trying to beat Noriko into compliance with his vision for her life, Xadium decided to shed the quiet, meek persona he'd developed after many years with Minako and Shaldra, and firmly reassert himself as the man he'd used to be in his younger days. Not so much a regeneration as a personal reinvention, this X is brash, forward and dangerous, but still loyal and loving to his friends and family.

Exiled Renegade

On October 8th, 2012, using the power of the Black Guardian and a Philosopher's Stone made from 3.5 billion sacrificed lives, Hazel Ninegate broke the Time Lock on Gallifrey, destroyed the invading Dalek Fleet, and restoring the planet to its former glory, becoming its hero and immediately gaining tremendous political sway, which she immediately used to have Xadium labeled as a renegade, exiling him to Earth and removing his knowledge of TARDIS demat codes. In fact, The Doctor had rescued Gallifrey from certain doom but Hazel had her attack timed just right in order to fool the majority into believing her to be the savior. Knowing this, Hazel blackmailed the high council into supporting her version of events and convincing everyone she had saved the planet. What she truly used the power of the souls of Veridina IV for is currently not known. After Ninegate's defeat, Xadium regained his status within Time Lord Society.

Quest for the Dragonballs of Earth: 2014

In order to head off potential damage to the timeline of the universe by Simon Kerrick, Xadium and Gemini left The Hotel and sought out the seven Earth Dragon Balls (circa October 2014) in order to counter Kerrick's Namek Dragon Balls.

1. "LOL Craps"

The TARDIS lands at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the cloister bell sounds. Xadium and Gemini discover the last Adherents of the Repeated Meme guarding the three-star Dragonball and have to defeat them at a game of internet memes in order to secure it.

2. "Way of the Mask"

Xadium takes Gemini to Yokyohama, Japan, and all is not as it seems. The Time Lord and his companion uncover the secret of the last Samurai Zygon. A mysterious figure who claims to be from Xadium’s future saves the day, and they secure the one-star Dragon Ball.

3. "Chariots of the Gods"

Xadium force-lands the TARDIS in Alexandria, Egypt. The Sonic Lumia 1020 picks up a signal from an unexpected life form. Gemini discovers a secret about the origins of humanity in a duel with minions of Nizhaladax for the five-star Dragon Ball. Rematerialising the TARDIS at exactly the right moment saves the day.

4. "Night of the Puma"

Xadium and Gemini find the six-star Dragon Ball in an abandoned spaceship buried in Casablanca Morocco, but are immediately surrounded by Slitheen with guns. Geminine bursts in to save the day, along with a strange Aztec sidekick who pushes her out of windows at random.

5. "Puzzle Boxer"

There are a series of unexplained deaths in Hong Kong, and time is running faster than usual. Isolated from Xadium, Gemini goes on to make a grave mistake in a battle with Nizhaladax. An unexpected fault in the TARDIS translation circuit saves the day, and the two-star Dragonball is secured.

6. "Snake Oil Spaceman"

A malfunction sends the TARDIS hurtling towards Santiago, Chile, and Jack Harkness finds himself worshiped as a pagan goddess. Isolated from Xadium, Gemini goes on to discover the seven-star Dragon Ball in the hands of militant Sea Devils.

7. "Cat in a Spat"

The TARDIS loses power and strands Xadium and Gemini on the Rock of Gibraltar. The Sonic Lumia 1020 picks up a gravity anomaly. Investigating, Xadium finds out a horrifying secret about an ancient Dalek presence on Earth. Locked in a life or death struggle with Beep the Meep, Xadium avoids the safe path to victory, nearly getting Gemini killed in order to secure the four-star Dragonball.

...and then they had to put them all back because Vermellia X. Rosso solved the crisis.

Walking into the Void

In May 2014, Xadium was forced to confront the ghosts of his past, entering the strange interstitial void between Earth 1337 A and its predecessor, Earth 1337 AB. He came out changed, aloof, more mysterious.

"That mad grin"

Almost instantly thereafter, Xadium changed again. After determining that the menace "Nightfall" that was threatening the universe was known to him of old, and feeling the hate that was rising in him, he traveled to Karn to induce a regeneration at the hands of the Sisterhood of Karn, rebalancing his persona to perfectly take on the most dangerous challenge of his lives.

Alternate timeline: House of Moon Dr. Xadium

In the House of Moon, Dr. Xadium (as The Facilitator) served mostly as a pimp in the entourage of Princess Venus. When his memories were mostly restored by Sakura April, Xadium chose to sit out the fight and have lots of sex with Mewna in the TARDIS, which may well have been the reason why both he and she were preserved into the restored timeline. The Facilitator spends little time on earth, instead choosing to wander the universe with his new beloved and leaving the comings and goings of Ten'ou House to the other two iterations of Xadium. This Xadium was shown to have been killed during some unspecified adventure, during the torment of Bad Wolf Xadium by Meioh Setsuna.

During the Renegade Actuary Crisis, the Time Lords intercepted The Facilitator one second before his death and held him in stasis to get his aid in constructing a Reality Drill.

Wishing to do nothing but die due to the loss of Mewna, this Xadium helped on the condition he be allowed to expire. Annoyingly for him The Goddess Venus appeared and forced him out of his one-second time loop, frying him but then restarting his hearts with a jolt from a Venus Love-Me Shock, causing him to regenerate, after which time he carried on, no longer as Xadium, but as The Facilitator.

Death in the Third Nonary Game

On November 21, 2014, Xadium was killed in the ninth round of the final Nonary Game by a possessed John Constantine. Having been forewarned that the end would come if the game reached the Ninth Round by Lydia D. Darkletter, he prepared for the moment and took the chance to help free John of his Possession, falling into hell after being stabbed in the hearts. Leaving The Intern a letter, he passed on hid legacy to her and told her he would one day return. Lydia D. Darkletter implied Xadium is traveling with her in other realms, but has never elaborated on the subject, only promising to "keep him safe in the Tales to come."

He was 938.

Or.. not quite so dead After all=

Alerted to his impending demise by a note left for him in a time proof safe by Vermellia (see "Whatever Happened to the Suburban Senshi"), Xadium began plans to extricate himself from the prediction of death. His Watcher from a future incarnation took the form of The Specialist, a cranky old man who came back to the HOTEL and waited for the time to be right for an ion storm to occur, opening a hole to the Mirror Universe, where he allowed a Mirror Version of Xadium to cross over into our world. Capturing him, The Specialist borrowed five dollars from [[Nelius Raoul], giving the doppelganger a shave and sending him forward in time to be executed in the Third Nonary Game. Just before that happened, X gave out "final' notes to everyone, and then made his way into the wilderness to prepare his next big plan... the foundation of Big Grocery, a sort of "Urahara shop" for the people of the HOTEL. Getting involved in many risky adventures while setting up his supply lines, he was forced to regenerate, giving rise to the Watcher who untimelate went back in time to set things in motion. Not ready to reveal himself yes, X returned to the HOTEL, a man of over 1200 years, dressed as the mysterious "Proprietor".

Eventually, Cressida forced him to reveal his identity when she accidentally ripped his costume arm off, and X revealed himself, a travel-hardened warrior ready for the next stage of the Great Game.

Fall From Grace

On June 21st 2017, after watching a video of Diana Caprice near the end of her life, and seeing his wife Gemini sad over knowing that Diana was going to die, Xadium went back in time, using Mire technology to infect Diana with healing machines that eventually caused her resurrection.

This act, seemingly done one a whim, for no reason other than he could do it, angered The Intern, caused Gemini to separate from him temporarily due to a fear of who he had become, and his daughters Sakura and Noriko to become wary of him, threatening to take him down if he went across the line.

Paisley took it upon herself to intervene, using knowledge she'd gained from The Old Man of Peinforte Manor to confront Xadium with his darkest fear, namely that he always feared the loss of his friends and would do whatever it took to keep them. After a heart-to-heart talk she convinced him to make amends with Gemini and drop his title of The Proprietor and go back to being the kind, gentle man he used to be. She also made him promise that should there ever come a time when he felt the universe had turned its back on him, that he would make his way to Peinforte Manor and wait for her to save him.

"Sins of the Past"

In January 2016, hanks to Bederatzi Porta, who was looking for revenge for the death of her "mother" Hazel Ninegate, the truth came out to the general population of the HOTEL that Xadium was responsible for allowing the fall of the Silver Millennium to happen, which led to another temporary estrangement with Gemini Sunrise and a confrontation with one of the Silver Millennium's survivors, Sean Collins, who had lost his family.

Even though Collins was able to come to an understanding with Xadium, the guilt over what Xadium had done (even though he still believed it to be correct) led him to decide to spend some time walking the earth and helping people (at Gemini's suggestion) to help atone for his crimes. Unbeknownst to him, a newly-revived and interested-in-finding-out-more-about-Humanity Hazel Ninegate decided to tag along, leading to the insaneXadium-Hazel Road Trip Saga of 2018.

Skills and Personality

Xadium is a master of unarmed combat, in particular Venusian aikido, thanks to training with his former wife Aino Minako. While all the iterations of Xadium normally disdain physical violence, he has shown himself in the past to be a skilled swordsman and decent martial artist, at least from his training with rei.bot and Sakura.

Being a CIA operative, he was trained on how to control his regenerative process, which is why he is able to look basically the same regeneration after regeneration.

Peace-loving, quiet, and very accommodating, Xadium Prime wanted nothing more than to have a happy life with Minako, whom he adored--While he never got this wish, Doctor Xadium is currently living out this dream with Gemini Sunrise.

Persona

Xadium is actually a far more ruthless character in virtually all of his incarnations than people frequently give him credit for. He is an inherently judgmental character once he's made up his mind which side he's on, and assuming he has a chance to fully field all his talents, his side usually wins, which virtually always results in the decimation of the opposing side. It's not accidental that the vast majority of villains he he's faced end up not captured, but dead. He may be a nice guy, but he's a terribly dangerous person to cross.

Powers and Abilities

Physical

As with other Gallifreyans, Doctor Xadium is physically superior to normal humans in nearly every respect, though not generally superhumanly so. He is slightly stronger than his appearance would suggest, has greater stamina, and better than average agility. His senses are also slightly keener than a human's, and he is capable of noticing ripples in the patterns of time. He can survive without oxygen for short periods of time and can even survive unprotected in the vacuum of space for several minutes.

Xadium also has an enhanced healing factor and the ability to synchronize with Venusian planet power due to his biodata being intermingled with Goddess' Venus during her murder of him as he regenerated in her arms.

Among the more obvious physical differences between his body and that of a human is that he has two hearts. He is capable of healing most wounds, given time, even regrowing severed appendages on occasion, although this can take weeks. If he suffers an injury so severe that he cannot survive, then he is able to completely regenerate his body, taking on a entirely new form. Based on examples of other Time Lords seen regenerating, even decapitation might not be fatal; severe injury to both hearts, however, causes near fatal mental strain, and as a result he generally suffers a period of mental instability thereafter, which in the past has manifested as amnesia, mood swings, and even full blown psychotic episodes; in the end, his mind settles down again, but in every instance his personality is altered by the experience. Perhaps due to the strain this imposes, Time Lords can only regenerate twelve times, allowing them a total of thirteen bodies.

Mental

Xadium is moderately telepathic; he cannot read minds without direct physical contact, but is capable of communicating with other telepathic beings. Boosted by his TARDIS, this telepathy is able to act as an instant translator of virtually all spoken or written languages, a gift which is extended to those who travel with him; it is so effective that those using the gift are generally not even conscious of the fact that they shouldn't be able to understand the alien tongues they are listening to. Time Lords can recognize one another by their telepathic signature, even when they have changed their appearances, unless one of them is deliberately masking who they are.

Xadium's greatest ability is his intellect. He is vastly more intelligent than any human, with extensive knowledge of most sciences and an extremely quick and adaptive mind. He is resistant to forms of mental coercion such as hypnosis, brainwashing, mind control, or mind probes. Trips into his mindscape have shown that each of his earlier personas still survive there, acting as keepers of their portions of his memories and aspects of his personality. Future personalities have also been seen to form in this mindscape in preparation for impending regeneration. All incarnations of Doctor Xadium have been seen to be skilled hypnotists, too, and most have displayed a talent for vocal mimicry.

Doctor Xadium is a decent engineer, well known for his ability to build a device for any circumstance he encounters if what he needs is not on hand. He often jury-rigs temporary equipment to combat the evils he comes across. His most common tool other than his TARDIS is a sonic screwdriver which can be adapted to a number of uses, most commonly to open locked doors of all varieties. It has also been seen to remotely detonate mines and swamp gas, repel creatures with sensitive hearing, and even remove screws. Xadium stores a variety of useful objects in his pockets, which he has finally admitted have an extra dimension sewn into them, making them much bigger on the inside.

List of Regenerations

Xadium's timeline is still a bit of a loopy mess, even he's not sure of all the details and things have changed, but this is as close as historians have managed to get:

1: Forced regeneration as part of induction into the Celestial Intervention Agency (CIA)
2: A sabotaged energy management console exploded in his face in CIA outpost VJX-99 after the Omega incident.
3: Knifed in the back by his mission partner on Minyos during a CIA operation; resigns CIA after this, suspecting someone has it out for him.
4: Tripped and fell down a long flight of stairs.
5: Shot by Sontarans during their invasion of Gallifrey
6: Came to Earth, regenerated when TARDIS crash landed.
7 - 12: Used up when Princess Venus, in a rage, killed him repeatedly.

Killed during Tarot 10 by Shaldra Darkness, Revived by the Dragonballs with a new regeneration cycle.

X is a survivor of The Nonary Game, having been placed in the final round at the last moment as a spur-of-moment, sadistic replacement for Jack Dinsdale.

X bears a scar on his chest in the shape of the sigil of Io, given to him in an early run in with Sailor Io. It has stuck with him through many regenerations and fusions. He speculates this may be due to some long-standing psychological impact, or the fact that the wound was magical.
